Dear Kel
Re the anna coins---well the currency has long changed, I think from the mid-sixties they changed to Naye paise to introduce decimal currency like the rest of the world was heading. 100 naye paise equal one rupee. The anna system was 16 annas equals one rupee! There were  one pie coins when 8 pies equalled one anna, quarter anna coins which were 4 to the anna, half anna coins where 2 equalled an anna and 1, 2,4, and 8 anna coins too. So 16 anna coins,8x 2 anna coins equals a rupee, 4x4anna coins, 2x8anna coins equals a rupee. Hope my memory is right because I handled more of the old currency coins than I did the decimal currency. I remember very well having a 'limited'vegetarian meal(served on a banana leaf) for 8 annas. This when the busfares from our outer suburb location to my workspot(doing tyre retreading near the city) was 10 annas!!? Those were the days!! I think my friend Brenda might have some old anna coins .
