This is the nicest Penny we've found in our collections so far.
I think it is from the Melbourne mint. Can anyone help with the grade and value. I was thinking maybe ms63rb, or am I being overoptimistic.
Also, we would like to preserve the red as much as possible and have it in a Saflip. Is there a better option.
Thanks P.G.

Based on the pic I'd agree with 63RB.
Saflips are suitable also the quality 2x2s (staple version) are good too.

Beautiful
Bet that is a Bobby dazzler in the hand

Carbon flecks might downgrade it but gee they nearly always have some

Nice coin P.G. I would guess there's not too many about with that much red. :good:
As we age we lose three things, one is our memory and arrrrr I've forgotten the other two!

Coin of the day if you ask me. Here are a couple of PCGS MS63RB for comparison (not mine, I think the second might have something to do with trout):

Two Bob coin collector.

I'd reckon that pg's coin is a red
But pcgs can run hot and cold on that designation

Thanks everyone for your help.

I think your right Robbiegal, I looked up pcgs grading of copper coins and they require 95 percent red so it might go close.

Like RG said pcgs can be hot and cold so your better off thinking RB and then be happily surprised if it comes back RD rather than being let down because it didn't quite make the grade.

For some odd reason PCGS doesn't like the wood toning streaks on our coppers, Personally I Love the wood toning streaks and you should jump up a grade with them because of the eye candy effect they have :good:
PCGS will definitely not give your coin a RD attribution because of these streaks  so RB63 it is I recon.
Lovely coin Mate :)

Hey PG, Nice coin... If you are thinking of getting that coin graded, it would cost you about $50-60 via a dealer. As I mentioned it would be 63-64 RB or slight chance of getting a RD designation. But if I was weighing the options, I would buy a 52 already graded .. you can buy a 63 RB for less than $50 or 64RD for about $100 at auction.. I love the coin below...

There is nothing wrong with just putting the coin in a 2x2 or saflip hen putting it in an album :ok:
Getting the coin graded by PCGS isn't going to improve it

Yes. Nowhere I said to grade the coin. Better off putting it in a saflip than getting it graded with PCGS as it would just be a cost.
