I think that everyone agrees that PVC and coins should NEVER be placed together.
Why is it that the Mints still use PVC in its packaging :dash1:
All the proof sets have a PVC sleeve that holds the paperwork and the pnc offerings have a dirty great PVC envelope on them.
Any thoughts on this?

:scratch_one-s_head: well even I know it's bad so this just shows how much they care as they would have to know by now that PVC and coins don't mix..damn profit to hell :diablo:

I doubt the PVC wouldnt penetrate the proof set because its so thick. Im fairly sure that Auspost do the PNCs not the RAM and becauseof that rheyre probably more concerned with the stamp side of things.

Don't go making excuses for 'em enworb, in this day and age they should have their poop together..well one would think :mocking:

At over $130 a set you would think they would take a little more care with the packaging :ok:
It really is a moot point for me as I always crack them out anyway :good:

The Mint sets are fine (Now)
It's the Proof sets and the 2 coin proof sets that have the PVC in them.
with the 2 coin sets the entire wallet is PVC :dash1:

Mister T

Aren't some coin folders still PVC because the PVC won't come into direct contact with the coins? Maybe that's the mint's reasoning.
In any case, it's good that the PVC wallets are no more.

Sapyx

PVC is damaging to coins when in direct contact. If it's not in direct contact then the damage should be none to minimal.

As for "Why do they still use PVC at all?", the answer is the same as why they used PVC back in the 1970s: because it's cheap.

Well if they want to use 70's packaging then they should use 70's pricing as well :dodgy:

This is worrying. So take this for instance...

The whole coin wallet holding the coins is a big acid bath!? What about the individual plastic holders in the wedding set?
