Not sure if this is the right area to put up, but was wondering what do you lot use for keeping records for your collections? Any recommendations on software. I'm still fairly fresh at collecting but have more than a few now and just been using excel, which isn't bad, but I'd like something more professional. Thanks for any input .

Hey P27,

If you Google you will find a list of software people use. It will cost you a few $$ but that might be the best way to keep records...I personally use excel.

Other option is to register with PCGS or NGC ...they provide a free service to keep records.  Only catch is their system is only helpful if you have their coins. ...I also use PCGS system as 90% of my coins are PCGS Graded. .

I use Excel as well, a spreadsheet that was designed for aussie coins by a dealer in NSW.

Have modified it to suit my needs.  If anyone wants a copy of the original master by email just PM me.

Try compass collectibles. I sell it for$20. There is a trail version you can play with first

Yes, but you wouldn't want to.  The file size would grow out of control very quickly.  Rather than putting the image in the file put a link to the image in it.  Store all of your coin images and your Excel catalog in the same folder.  Then for each coin record in your database just insert a link that points to the right picture.  Then it's just a matter of clicking on the link in Excel and you can see your picture.  I did it that way for years.
