Hey all, just going through my N.Z. change bag and came across a 1982 5 cent, can someone tell me if the 1982 is die filled where waves should be? the rest of the coin doesn't seem to have the same kind of wear/fill.. The rim also looks not right. The 1985 5 cent is just for comparison, I never had another 82. Thanks in advance..

I've checked all my documents to see if I have any record of die fill on the 1982 5c, but found nothing.  The 1967 is known for this in this same position, so I dare say that it could happen on any coin.

My opinion on the rim is that it's taken a few knocks and that's why it may appear a bit different.

Here's a pic of the 1967 5c no sea. Doesn't look like there was ever a sea there.

See the rim spur just above where the sea should be? I'm thinking this is not a fill.

And the indented double rim remains unexplained, just like on our dollars, I guess?

?? Do you mean around the bottom of the obverse?  If so, that's just "metal squeeze".  The dies slop around in the collar due to loose tolerances and metal forces it's way up the gap.  Nothing more than that.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant on the OP 1982.
