There's lots of excitement about coloured coins (ie the new $2 and so on)
I have had these 2 fifty cent pieces for a while - interestingly the beautiful full toning is only on the one side of each coin!
they are a perfect pair and I love ém
the mint will never create what time does to silver and copper

same guy who I got my captain cooks off (pics posted last week-end)
he keeps an eye out for the coloured coins for me
and he's proving to have a very good eye for it too

not many people collect toned coins, they want them shiny and bright, so I don't have too much competition, unless you're in town!! ha ha

is that toning robbie or pcv damage :scratch_one-s_head:

I hope that it's natural toning from something like a fabric

I think if it was PVC it would be dreadfully dark (like smudges or blobs?) on the high points

I think these coins were in a lined case, like the 1966 proof set cases

I have a 1969 50c that has funny blue tones and my coin dealer reckoned it was from the little manilla paper coin packets

Do you like the 50c Jack?

ausjack

Oh cool, I'm still learning about toning and PVC damage sorry.

Yeah mate they're cool, I'll try and have another go at taking a pic of mine..I find them as hard to photograph as the wedding sets :( but all look good :)

This has to be one of the worst 50 cent designs but it looks a bit better as a silver proof :ok:

John Serrano - a year 5/6 school student from east Keilor victoria (his school got a $10,000 cheque - not him!)
they are really down to earth and simple

coin show again on the week-end here (local small show once per month)
got myself a few more of these beautiful 50c pieces - 2 were almost impossible to get out of the red holder!
they are just beautiful - so here's some piccies of two that I think are just luvly - they are undoubtedly specimen coins
I did 'resize' the pics but obviously 800 is still pretty big!
