Just received this 1972 Mint Set that the seller advertised as having
grotty coins but they still come up nice after the acetone treatment

Just a 2 minute wipe over with a cotton but dipped in acetone

I gather they would be very very gentle wipes?

Yes you have to be careful but I have cleaned up about 25 early sets (1969 - 1973 ) in the last year and I can say that there was only 2 or 3 coins that had any real damage done (mostly staining)by the PVC,except for the 1c and 2c pieces which are usually fully toned

Fulvio

Its all in the wrist action...

ROLL the bud, don't wipe. Anything firmly attached won't come off anyway, no matter how hard you scrub, yu'll just ruin the coin.

Yeah it will remove the PVC residue on any of the coins.Best to get them out of those old holders and into 2x2's or saflips
