World Errors and Varieties / Re: UK 2p Wrong planchet

Not well versed on British coinage. What was the planchet supposed to be?

I know Greece had rules that said it was illegal to take drachmas out of the country but I don't know if that still holds.

Got some interesting news from a money transfer company.

Fiji is phasing out their old paper banknotes - as of January 1st next year, the paper notes will no longer be legal tender. Only the new polymer ones will be valid.
This (fortunately) doesn't affect me. Never been to Fiji and no real interest in going, but if you are hoarding large quantities of old notes, either spend up big, or arrange to get them converted.

Chin Wag / Anyone recommend a reputable clock repairer?
September 22, 2026, 01:39:43 PM
I have this circa 1930's German mantle clock that cost me about $200 a few years back. About 6 months ago I was winding it's chime when the chime spring snapped. They go off like a gunshot. Not sure how much extra damage that did, but I would like to get it repaired (at a reasonable cost) if possible.
I have had one quote at something like 6 times the price of the clock. Way too much to consider given the original cost to me.
Anyone know a horologist who isn't going to charge an arm and a leg?

Quote from: TKO-100 on September 19, 2026, 11:54:22 AMMy wife sends one letter a month and at Christmas about 25. Thats 37 post a year and amounts to $25.00 USD annually. As far a junk mail goes, I don't know how those commercial mailers can afford it. I could cover every wall inside and out with all of it.

Don't most of them just pay some poor sod to walk around and put them in letterboxes, like they do here?

Chin Wag / RE: BIRTHDAY'S

Should I say it?
Happy Birthday Barry Gibb. 80 today. Outlived his younger brothers.
And my father-in-law. 89 today. Outlived his younger brother also.

Sir Krash has been busy and not one thing has been discarded. Except of course the WIKI link in the header that led nowhere. I hope it's to everyone's liking. Everyone and everything needs to get dressed up every now and again.

I put the answer to your question here in BLUE.

Totally missed that. It is okay, just not what I was expecting.

Australian Banknotes / RE: $3 and $7 notes

Thanks Jeff, that was an interesting read. Think how much those test notes would be worth to collectors.
I bet a few disappeared in production.

Forum Announcements and Rules / RE: Email Accounts

Bit of an issue.
Checked the email registered on this site.
I haven't had it for close to 5 years. I was sure I had updated it.
Tried to change it twice now.

"Your email address has been successfully updated. For your new email address to become active, we require that you complete a validation process.

I have received no validation email and it still shows the old one from 5 years ago.

Silly question, but what happened to the background colour? It is a lot more blue now.
