Hi,
I'm just wondering about the unusual shape of both number 2's in the date.
Is there any rarity or value to this error coin?
Thanking you in advance for looking. :)
:welcome: aboard k8, hope you enjoy mate. I only have one kiwi dollar but I'd say at a very rough guess you have a double cud :good: here's a pic of the $1 I have (http://i42.tinypic.com/331o95e.jpg)
Thanks jack :). Very new to it all, and slowly learning. Do you think a double cud is rare at all? I'll keep searching through my stash of coins :)
I wouldnt hve said it was rare or valuable but it is something interesting, well worth hanging onto.

there's more of these "blobby dates" to find, just found this http://www.coin.co.nz/complete-2002-nz-1-dollar-coin-blobby-date-set,name,46799,auction_id,auction_details
Thanks for the photos :) 'blobby coins' is that another term for them?
My lil blobs look like two swans with lovely tails lol :D
Blobby coins isnt a term that is usually used but it is descriptive i suppose.
A 'cud' is what they are usually called.
I was just going off what they called them..sorry  Yes we'd call them cuds as I first posted :)
We often give cud errors that resemble 'something' a name, so I agree with you that it looks like 2 swans, so how about it? Want to refer to it as NZ 2002 $1 'double swan'?
Nevol, fantastic :) one of a kind maybe ;) hmm the possibilities hehe :D
Hi, Aussie K8 ,when i first saw your coin,i said to the Mrs,come & have a look at the twin miniature swans& then i read down & see you've seen the same thing,Cool coin by the way.:good:
Don't worry the error queen will be lookin now :winkextra:
Thanks accumulator, it is pretty cool! :)
Jack who is this error queen you speak of? Hehe
Do we need to vote on the name 'double swan'? I'm keen on it ;)
Nevol is our error queen..I'd love to know what she's forgotten :good:
What she had forgotten? I don't get it :/ is there something to get? Lol
I meant she knows a lot..Nevol posts the best pic's as well as some really informative info, just look at some of the other error posts and you'll see what I mean :good:
Awesome! Just browsing through some now :)
Its official I'm sticking with Nevols suggestion 'Double Swan' now to see if there are any others like it. I've already grown attached to this lil beauty hehe wonder if it will make it onto anyone's wish list. Thank you everyone. I'm looking forward to seeing some more photos of similar coins :) I'll keep searching through my old Aussie and world coins.
Quotewonder if it will make it onto anyone's wish list.
It's already on mine, but the chances of me finding one are pretty slim. Ah well, can't blame a girl for dreaming.
Hi Nevol, would the 'double swan' (lovin the name by the way) have any value now or in the future? In your opinion :)
Hi k8, and welcome. Lovely coin you have there. And yes, it is definitely a keeper. May not buy you a new house, but anything over face value is all profit, right? I'd part with a few bob myself if I were into NZ coins.

It would have some value for sure, but hard to say what it would bring, maybe up to $5. But possibly more if there were enough error collectors interested.
