I've seen a number of coins recently where writing on the 2x2 puts aside any doubt of the coins authenticity and value.
Here is a few to start off! Let's keep it going if people find any good ones.

Sure it has to be real because the 2x2 says so!
Yes it must be true , as it is written so :dodgy: or just add a little note with coin

Any grades mentioned are of a of a
professional/personal:ok: opinion and before bidding on any auction you should always judge and grade yourself.
I do rob , and I am giving this one a big miss .. ,, kel ,,
It is absolute ---- heads like this that make it SO hard for the genuine sellers :dash1:
Especially the second link where the seller had absolutely NO IDEA about grading and the idiotic spiel about "Don't buy from other sellers and beware of error coins".
Quite frankly people like this are simply an embarrassment to dinkum sellers :dodgy:

Looks like PMD to me.
Ah Yes, it is indeed PMD, Remember they came on CCF asking about it & we all told them it is definite PMD but they turned around & put it straight on ebay as a real error, bundaberg residents they were.
I don't remember the coin from CCF, but I know who you mean. There were at least 2 of the family selling coins on Ebay with a possible third one a little way from Bundy.
are some of those pic's taken while the coin is still in the vice :scratch_one-s_head:

Sure does! From memory her Ebay stuff was legit and I did buy from her a couple times, but I'm very suss about the other one, her son I think. Some of their prices are just ridiculous!
Belly, there's a seller on quicksales who state nearly everyone of his coins are 'RARE'
I hope ppl are careful buying off him.
I think this clown has a partial collar $1 on quicksale for $700 too.
Speaking of larena hows this for coincidence http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=114301 just posted today. What a load of crap!!!!!
Makes me wonder if it's her son that's making them. :dodgy: :dodgy:
What are the chances of the same two related people just happening to come across two of almost the exact same so called error (crap) coins.
Its listed on ebay. I saw it the other day. Think she is asking $700 or something stupid.
The son has it listed for $750.00 as per the link posted by Fr45h3R:

Larena isn't related to someone you know is she Matt? Someone whose first name is Shane? They both "find" valuable things.
Maybe second cousins? At least he 'finds' 'plausible' errors. These are so clearly PMD its a joke.

I don't know too much about fake pennies but I reckon a lot of people are inclined to believe the seller as he seems to be answering everyones questions and posting them for all to see.
Matt
Well i can assure you Matt that this coin is'nt even close to being a good fake let alone genuine.
I reckon your right about the punters though, believe the tripe in the listing.
No ..... not a chinese fake again!!! :dash1::dash1::dash1:
That is a shocker. I just sent the seller a message advising them it is fake.
And of course it's a London die fake.

don't worry about it guys , if any body has that much money to invest in any coin selling on ebay and then storing it away , without first having it checked out , then they are already rich anyway , and remember there are 59 bids so far , so there is a lot of rich people about ,and most likely got their money by robbing other people in the first place , so don't feel sorry for the winning bidder , he is just to rich in the first place.. ,, kel ,,

Mister T: Are you really stating that the above is a Proof 1930 Penny or are you joking?
If it was a fair dinkum Proof 1930 Penny, it would be worth almost $1,000,000.00.
Definitely not a Proof or even real , I think MrT was just being a little sarcastic.
If that's a 1930 penny, I''l eat my hat. The date looks like 193G.
There must be an idiot factory somewhere churning these people out...
Assume for a moment it were real (clearly its not). In that condition, even with the verdigris, it would have to be worth at least 30 grand.. ten times the buy it now price.
That alone should be enough to warn ANY potential bidder off, surely?

Yes. It is my feedback. I'd forgotten he'd screwed me over before. I bought a coin on a BIN from him. And it was a 1777 8 reales too (probably the same one). Here's his first email to me:

Hi Mark,
Im really sorry, please don't pay for this coin as ive accidently put the wrong price in I wanted to sell it for and thus don't want to sell it well below its actual value.
Thanks

And my response. Clearly I wasn't having a happy Mark day.

Dear saxually_active,
What do you consider it's actual value to be? You didn't even grade the coin so I am bemused as to how you arrived at it's actual value anyway. Grade is EVERYTHING in value. Just because you've found one auction result somewhere for a high price doesn't mean your coin is worth that.
I'll be opening a dispute for this item and giving you a negative for failure to sell. I really don't see what the problem is, you listed it at what I consider to be a fair price.
- Mark

And the final bit of correspondence.
******************************
Dear Mark,
Yes I looked at other auctions on ebay and know nothing about coins, but you will be pleased to know I have taken the coin to a valuer and it has been identified as a fake. Lucky for you your money has been refunded and for the fact that it wasn't examined before you decided to buy it, with such little information you would be now be at a loss of $190.00.

So somehow the "fake" has ended up in a APCGS slab. If it's a fake well shame on them and him for trying to sell it. If it's not a fake then he stiffed me and shame on him and shame on APCGS for so badly undergrading it.
shame shane shame
Mark did you know that you can leave follow up feedback to the feedback you have already left?
Enjoy yourself.

w00t.
Nice response.
Did anyone confirm it is a copy. I can't find them on any of the regular China websites but looking at the obverse, the C in Carolus and the second A in Gratia are both touching the bust and close to the denticles.
This image from Wikipedia:
http://www.coinfactswiki.com/wiki/Image:Bolivia_1777_8_reales_Aureo_238-0436g.jpg
and every other image I can find shows a clear gap at both the top and bottom of the lettering and the A is closer to the front of the robe than the first shoulder flap.
Love your response to this "Bridge Troll" Mark.
I just wish I was as eloquent as you with this type of arsehole.
Love your work Mate :wavemulticolor:

.... it has a bid. (and $50 postage)
makes sense now, I just saw this one http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1956Y-Proof-Penny-FDC-RARE-/151247913954?pt=AU_Coins2&hash=item23371403e2
I guess if it looks the same then it must be worth the same.
.... oh dear ....
Surely it has to be a shill bid ....
.... though looking at the history there seems no correlation .... eeeek!

It can be a mistake to underestimate human greed and human stupidity.
The bidder has 779 feedback ,mainly buying coins from all over the world (WTF ),you'd think they would have some research skills seeing FB score like theirs.

:laugh2: ..... I think perhaps the latter

Now, I'm not calling this dodgy... but I don't think this description is quite right either:
QuoteDetails: Interesting double strike error. This coin has been struck once, failed to eject from the collar, rotated 90 degrees, and then been struck again. It has resulted in an overlapping of the relief and a clear '10' being struck ninety degrees to the first. It is a bit hard to see in the photo, but when light is reflected off of the coin, it is clear to see. Very nice and almost certainly unique.
If it happened like he describes, then I would think both sides would be affected. Yet the obverse is normal.
Its got me stumped. Anybody got any clues?
Looks to me like it had a pool of clear 'resin' or similar applied, then the rev of another coin pushed into it to make an impression in the resin, but hey what do I know?
If it happened as described by the seller, wouldn't the Obv have a double image as well instead of being perfect?

Absolutely, definitely been tampered with in some way IMO as well.
Just found this "beauty" :laugh2:

Is it fake?

Looks like a "Shed Job" to me:dodgy:
it does not match a normal brockage, unless the other coin magically developed a hole in it :P
oh and the preesure of a second strike would remove underlying detail, this coin has been smacked with another on top, with a washer behind it, bahaha
I agree , it does'nt look like it should.
I 've dealt with the seller & never had any problems but this coin just is'nt right.

The seller has another one of these.

yeah that one looks better tho, it has a raised rim and stretching effect on the second lettering and the detail was kept on the back
Yeah, imo that one is legit.
here is another shed job threepence.
