So what does this mean?
Am I a deficient character because I have not achieved a target?
Am I responsible because I only lodge a post when I think it is deserving?
I could easily meet a target but, is that the purpose of being here?
Why 500? 467 and 547 are rather interesting numbers. 480 and 520 (and many other numbers close to these) are also interesting but, for a different reason.
Having worked for a boss who put everything as a measure of numbers I don't think a number is necessarily of any significance.
In fact, I debated with this boss that Standard of Living and Quality of Life are not the same. He thinks, even now, that income is the only measure of both.
Forget the numbers, concentrate on what is important to you and be suspicious of lifestyle advice from outside your immediate circle.

PS. As an engineer I an well versed in the importance of measuring things with numbers. But, that is usually physical constraints that need this type of measurement, not human attributes.

Someone in our house is a wee bit fussy about the bed. So much so that we found the bed he liked at a hotel chain, then we bought one just the same. We even stayed in their hotel in New Zealand!

Just on the 500 club I've setup the forum to automatically move people into the 500 Club when they hit 500 posts. You'll need to activate the display of this group yourself though via the User Control Panel. Here's how you do that:
1. Click on the User CP link just below the top banner.
2. Click on the Group Memberships link which is on the left side of the User CP screen just below the Miscellaneous heading.
3. Click the Set as Display Group link next to The 500 Club.

When I asked Markn for approval of the 500 club this site was still in it's infancy.
I did this to promote discussion on the site and eventually a number of members achieved their badges.
You have to visualize that we only had a handful of members then and every post was important and this initiative DID increase usage of the site .
Some of these early participants have (Sadly) dumped their achievement .
There are however a few of us that refuse to discard the "500" because we think of them as a badge of honor or as a campaign medal :ok:
I am pretty sure that now the site has a life of its own the need for the 500 badge has faded into history.
IF you ask Markn nicely he MAY grant you one if you really desire it.
Mark says you have to go to your own profile and change your default user group to the 500 club if you have over 500 posts.
If I add in the posts I've had removed I might qualify too.
