Title: New Poppy Coin details.
Post by: Fishing on October 08, 2022, 11:12:53 PM
Whoops, this was for the previous issue back in 2012 but the new issue will be very similar, "Sorry about Chief".

·        A $2 commemorative circulating non coloured coin featuring a poppy to commemorate Remembrance Day and will be distributed through the normal channels i.e. banks. Distributed over the coming months.

·        A special version of the $2 commemorative circulating coin featuring a coloured poppy which will be distributed through the RSL Red Poppy Appeal from Friday 26th October through to Sunday 11th November. In Canberra by the ACT RSL they will be distributing these coins through the RSL Poppy Appeal from Monday 5th to Friday 10th November at major shopping centres around Canberra.

·        A collectible $2 commemorative coin with a coloured poppy released through the normal sales channels (RAM) to mark the historical significance of this coin being the first commemorative design for the $2 circulating coin. It is also a mintmark.

The RAM is producing 500,000 coloured coins for circulation as opposed to a minimum of 5 million non-coloured coins also to be released into circulation.

It seems like a repeat of the way the three 2012 poppy two dollar issues were released.

Interesting too, because we have already had two $2 releases with C-mintmark versions, as in previous years where there were Lest We Forget and Remembrance issues in March and November.
