Title: Just how gullible are Aussies?
Post by: Nevol on February 25, 2021, 10:11:13 AM

Only 160 Million of these minted and all these Ebay crooks are hyping them as "rare".

Supposedly all these have been sold, so my only comments are  :dodgy: :shout:  :fie:

Still 242 identical items still listed, too many to try and get Ebay to do anything about them.

Looks like the seller is "puffing" the prices.  :-/

Just had a friend call me this morning. She was quite excited because she found several of them and was told they are valuable.
I had to disillusion.

This seller knows what they are worth.

The buyers are feedback of "0" or private.
There is no feedback for the sellers to the buyers either.
Most of the sellers had a feedback of "0" as well

Maybe Kathryn's April Fool story triggered this.

Rare Counterstamped 1988 2 Dollar Coin Issue (https://www.australian-coins.com/coin-news/rare-counterstamped-1988-2-dollar-coin-issue/)

Could also be someone using this method to launder dirty money.

After opening Nevol's link I at first wondered what they were selling for, then realised I was already looking at the Sold page, wow!!

If those sold prices are on the up and up and not a carrot, there will be some very disappointed people feeling very sick in the stomach  :shok:

At first I was surprised then on reflection I was not. It is just the sad state the industry is in where a lot of people are taken advantage of by ebay sharks. Ebay will not do a thing about this at all.

Kudos to this seller

It's a wonder eBay didn't cancel that, and other similar, listings for not complying with some obscure condition. But they would have still done nothing about the scammers' listings.
I suspect that listing is a result of reporting scam listings to eBay and being ignored.

What I want to know is WHY did RAM remove Horst's initials from the $2? Stuart Devlin has his initials on coins, as does all the effigy designers. Why did they discriminate against Horst? I'd like to see his initials reinstated on the $2 coin. And they should apologize for taking them off in the first place unless there is a valid reason for the removal.

I may be wrong but I thought the design was based on someone else's work and it had to do with misappropriating credit.

I heard that is was because there where complaints that the Aboriginal elder looked like he had been branded with HH.
Not sure if that's true or not, but if so, I guess they could have just moved the initials.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was something stupid like that. As far as I know we've not had a history of branding our aboriginals, not like the US.
They definitely should have moved the initials.

Getting a flood of calls with people trying to sell HH........getting some abuse and being told I am an idiot or dont know what I am talking about when I tell them just to spend the coins.

People obviously know more than me because they have the internet

You should offer them a dollar for them.
