Title: Red Paper clip trade
Post by: trout on January 27, 2013, 10:32:23 PM
For those of you famillier with CCF there is a thread that does a trade up on various items started by a bloke with the handle of Mint-marq.
I suggest we try this here and at the end of the year I will open a quizz and give the proceeds to the winner of that quizz (It  will make a great Chrissy prezzie for someone)

How about we start off simple with this
[attachment=1155][attachment=1156]
Pm me with offers or simply post them in this thread with pic's.
I will decide the winning trade and offer that trade up next untill we get to the end of the year when all the trades are done and I will have a give away quizz.

44 views and no takers yet.
I wonder if you started to high.
The coin you posted is at least a $40 coin.
A lot more than a red paper clip.
Just a thought.

Philippines Coinage under U.S. Sovereignty

The Philippines was ceded to the United States as part of the settlement between Spain and the United States at the end of the Spanish-American War in 1898. A self-governing commonwealth was established in 1935. The U.S. granted the Republic of The Philippines full independence on July 4, 1946.

During the United States administration, Congress was responsible for issuing coinage.  The first U.S./Philippine coins were minted in 1903 in Philadelphia and San Francisco and bear both the Identities of the United States and "Filipinas" (Spanish for The Philippines).  During the commonwealth period, coinage was issued primarily at the Manila Mint ("M" mint mark). During the Japanese Occupation no Philippine coinage was issued. In 1944 and 1945 coins were only struck at the Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco Mints.

Ok you mob I can see that this is getting stagnant.
Here are the new rules of engagement.
Every member that participates and does a trade will at the end of the year go into a draw to see who wins the prize.
More than 1 trade =more than one ticket in the draw.
The more trades done = a better prize for the winner.
I am ineligible to win so it is all above board and could be a heap of fun IF we ALL get behind it.
We are ALL collectors and we ALL love to wheel, deal and have a bit of a gamble every now and then :good:

I have Nevol’s coin on my desk and it is open for trade .
I will endeavour to put something extra in each trade I post out (mystery coins) to Keep the momentum going.
So stop being a mob of sheep and get off your bums and give this a crack, at the end of the day one of the traders will reap all the benefits of this and will be a great Chrissy prezzy for someone.

Unlike the US CCF member that I got this idea off I will not benefit at all from this and a bit of postage cost that I will have to fork out will be miniscule compared to the enjoyment one of you will get from winning this trading idea. :yahoo:

I received my 2012 Poppy coin that I traded for this morning, plus 3 other coins that were an additional gift from trout. :yahoo:

C'mon folks.  You've gotta be in it to win it.

These are the coins I received.

2012 $2 Poppy
Canada 1967 1 cent UNC
Canada 1967 5 cent UNC
UK 1817 Half Crown Contemporary Counterfeit

Can you give some idea of a suitable value of an item to trade?
I like the idea of participating,  but have no idea what that is worth.

It contains silver, so probably bullion value, about $1.60

Trade in progress :dance2:
We have another 9 months to go before someone gets the results of this trading thread..
To make it fair I recon that everyone that participates in this gets put into a hat and the winner will be drawn from that.
this could be awsome at the end of the year and one lucky member will get whatever was the last trade before Christmas :wavemulticolor:

only 2 members have their names in the hat so far :dash1:
Each trade = 1 name.
Which means if you do more than 1 trade you get more than 1 name in the hat .
Simple:angel:
Names so far are
Nevol x1
Ozcoins x1

If this takes off I will supply a couple of prizes for 2nd and 3rd places, I am not a tightarse so they will be nice :good:
so come on you mob we have 186 members and only 2 have helped in this endeavour so far, so give this a whirl :ok:
The only thing I will get out of this is the enjoyment of looking at the coins traded before I send them to their new owners and at the end of the year one lucky member will reap the benefits of this trading process.
Just treat it as a sort of a quiz where you have to put something in to get a better prize at the end of the year:yahoo:

keldaw,

Trout offers something for trading.
Whoever likes what is on offer (currently a set of 2001 state 50c) and wants to swap something for them, sends Trout a message with what you would like to swap.
Trout picks the best offer and does a trade.
Then whatever he received in the trade becomes the next item available to swap.
Trout has said that whatever he ends up with at the end will become a prize which will go to one of the participants in the trading.

Its just a bit of fun.

I hope that helps.

It is inspired by the story here.

thanks ozcoins , to easy now i have understood it ..,,

but i am a little confused about all the postage ..
do we send the item to trout when he picks the one he wants , or just hold on to it  [ example ] 3 people tell trout they have an item to trade then trout picks the best one , and gets that person to send it to him then the other 2 miss out , now trout offers that item for trade then another 2 people offer up a trade the winner then sends that item to trout and the loser keeps his item , then trout offers that item and so on till christmas time  ,, to me that seams like a lot of postage , or am i missing something ..  anyway , doesn,t matter i will give it a try..
