Here's a question.
going through RAM sachets tonight I discovered these 2013 Coronation coins in single plastic bags, together with bags with 5 coins,
there's no other way I could have gotten these apart from the RAM. seems funny I have five of them.
So has anybody else got this type of single bag coins.
I haven't seen them on Ebay like this.
could these have been the very first issue of these coins in this type of bag?

The only ones I have are in the bag of 5 (with RAM insignia) and some individual coins that were handed out by the RAM in change when making purchases at the RAM shop.
I don't recall any being issued in single coin bags (although that could just be faulty memory  ).
A bag of 5 broken out and coins put into individual bags to prevent further bagmarking?
Pedro
These bags were from the RAM.
If you purchased $10 thru the RAM you were able to get a $2 coin with a maximum of 5 coins per order.
Once when I got some coins from the RAM shop one lot was in single bags. Can't remember which ones (caught faulty memory from Pedro) but may well have been those.
Had a quick look but could not find them. I probably put then in 2x2s.

Thank you Jenny
Always a wealth of knowledge
I thought they could only have come from the Mint
Cheers
Well, there you go.

Jen is right, RAM turned up a supply of these coins that had been set aside for something like the equivilent of pop up shops that never happened. They had something like 20,000 sitting around and decided to let mint shop customers buy them with other orders.
Initially it was one for every ten dollars spent but as typical for RAM rules changed radically.
I rang in to buy something using a Legends voucher and the sales rep asked if I would like some of the coronation coins as well. I said that would be great, how many could I have and she said up to 10 per customer, at face value.
I was overjoyed and took all ten on offer.
Recently I had them graded and they came back at MS64 to MS66. Not complaining for $20 face value.
