I am going through the Renniks Catalogue, Edition 29 to re-value my coin collection.
I have struck a dead end in working out the 2014 $1.00 Kangaroo issues.
According to Renniks, there were the three following issues:
1. $1.00 Kangaroo 6.2m Coins. (Page 85).
2. $1.00 Kangaroo 13,695 coins, 30th Anniv Coloured. (Page 88).
3. $1.00 Kangaroo Coloured Mint Set 36,482 coins. (Page 88).
According to my collection:
Item 1 above I have noted as a Special Release. (What and were did that special release come from?).
Items 2 and 3 I have noted as above.
I have also another issue of a "S" Counterstamp Kangaroo $1.00 coin which is not mentioned in the Renniks catalogue.
Could somebody on this forum clearly lay out the $1 Kangaroo issues for 2014 before I send an error message to Renniks.
TIA
Goldie: Tried tracking through RAM Annual Reports:
1. $1 MOR - circulating at 1.052m (1m in 2013/14 & 52,000 in 2014/15). The RAM 2014/15 Annual Report shows 5.2m, so that in theory would have made 6.2m for this coin but I seem to remember that an erratum advice was subsequently issued. The RAM mintage table on their website shows 1.052m.
2. 13,695 (RAM 2013/2014 Annual Report p113). Original mintage was supposed to be 30,000. Couldn't see any more produced per 2014/2015 RAM Report.
3. 36,482 (p112 of 2013/14 RAM Annual Report). However the 2014/15 RAM Annual Report (p105) also shows an additional 5,795 sets produced. Total 42,277.
4. The 2013/2014 Annual Report indicates 7,886 S counterstamp $1s. There were apparently B (3,260) & P (3,052) counterstamps as well (see page 113 of the report). I am assuming that these were MORs as the RAM Report doesn't say otherwise.
Please note that the RAM Annual Report page numbers quoted are the PDF page numbers.

Pedro thanks for your prompt response.
I am still none the wiser with the information you have detailed above.
I am hoping that someone might be able to show some extra light on the subject.
Again thanks.
What additional information would be useful Goldie?
Pedro
I seem to remember an original thread for this 2014 dollar, & it became very nasty, it no longer became a discussion
it turned into heated arguments. Anyone remember?
somebody boasting that they had X amount of rolls & that member was a bit over the top.
in the end Mark closed the thread.
Don't think anything was resolved.
If you have a "S" counterstmped coin all information pertaining to mintage was printed on the folder, as I remember.
Good luck
here's a roll

Always tried to collect every aluminium/bronze dollar back in those years, the only examples of the Kangaroo Dollar I have for 2014 are the coloured 30th Anniversary coin, one denoted as being ex mint roll, and the S counterstamp dollar which was done at the Queen Victoria building in Sydney. No mention of a special release though.
A fellow forum member has given me the information that I needed to sort out 2014 kangaroo $1.00 coins.
The RAM set up a Pop Up Tent in 2014 and sold bags of the plain Kangaroo coins. This one was the one causing me problems.
Thanks for all your help and assistance.
Problem now solved.

Hi Goldie
do you have, or have you actually seen a bag (how many coins?) of the 2014 kangaroo $1.00 coins?
No I haven't seen the bags but I am sure the forum person who gave me the information has and YES, I do have the coin..
Surely they are the same coins, from the same production presses, that are in the rolls for that year?

I've never seen any bags of 2014 MOR dollar coins for sale
there was a pop up shop at the QVB building forecourt to do the counterstamp "S"
I was down there for that luckily picked up 10, but never saw any bags, would have got a few if they were there.
There were some the mint rolled, I have three of them
Some were released into circulation, which I had been able to find a couple.
All the other pop up shops in 2014 were for the ANZAC coins, I'm sure if they were selling bags of the MOR coins other members who attended these pop up shops would have grabbed some as well.
Back in those days my Dollar coin collection was near to 100% complete (took pride in that fact)
Apart from the QVB "S" coin
The Rolls &
The Circulation coins
I would like to be proven wrong, but I need to at least see a photo.
This coin always stirs up a friggin hornets nest.
What, a photo of the actual coin, the bag of coins, or rolls of coin.
I can supply a scan/photo of the coin only.
Whether my fellow forum member has other photos I can't say.
However, have a look on Ebay, there is a 2014 Kangaroo coin on there from a "security bag". Maybe that is the bag my forum friends is referring too.

Goldie, would you be able to take a photo of the edge milling alignment with AUSTRALIA in the obverse legend please? It would be interesting to compare with coins I have from a broken roll.
Your wish is my command:

Thanks Goldie. Both coins have the same legend alignment, so it appears the coins ex bag and ex roll are from the same production press.
BTW, what is that marking on the hip of the large Kangaroo in your picture?

also , is that a cud on the left front leg of the kangaroo near it elbow ?
looks like 2 different coins ,one with the markings of a rip top of a can of drink and not on the other one .
I think it might be a reeding mark from another coin when it was thrown out of the press after being minted.
If that is Kel, then the drink can was very small/miniature.
