New Zealand made its last 5 cent coins in 2006 and promptly demonetised them. The only coin that has been demonetised in Australia remains the holey dollar. You can still spend your 1- and 2-cent coins, up to a total of 20 cents at a transaction, so let's do it!

The dump is demonetised too.

Banks are obliged to cash in pre-decimals*, 1¢ and 2¢ coins. An excellent way to make yourself unpopular with the tellers!

*Most tellers will happily cash in notes and silver because they know what they could be worth. But they definitely don't like coppers.

Shame - I like the 5c piece as a coin to collect.
