I saw on the World of Coins forums a discussion about the appearance of eyelashes on the Queen - 1966 50c pieces had no eyelashes but 1969 and onwards 50c pieces did, but the image of the 1970 50c at https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces6178.html (https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces6178.html) seems to show no eyelashes. Thoughts? Anyone noticed this before?

Have a look here ....... https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces122866.html (https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces122866.html) ..... 1966 Pattern 50 cent .. .Scroll down on the page for more info
Compare it with this ...... https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces6761.html (https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces6761.html) ..... 1966 normal 50 cent
Eyelashes are on the pattern but not on the other one.
Cheers Mike
it's not just the eye lashes though is it?
if you check out the hair, there's a lot of detail missing
Could it be the way proofs were made back then & the sand blasting to give it that effect?
The eyelashes seem to have come back in 1969 though, and I looked at a few images of 1970 proofs and specimens and couldn't see any other no eyelash coins. Surely it's not just how the photo was taken?
