Today I received a letter addressed to "selected residents of the State of New South Wales".
Here is what it was spruiking 225 Years of Sydney (http://www.macquariemint.com/).
•"Saving of $25 off the regular price of $49.95 (plus $8 PT&I)
•"Copper enriched in pure silver"
•"finished in stunning silver"
•"limited edition" [5,000]
•"Strictly limited offer! Ends 8th March 2013"
What a load of merde.
Does anyone know who is responsible for the Macquarie Mint? Postal address is a box at Nunawading, Vic.
Jeff
PS. (Edit) I forgot "proof like finish". [Is it or isn't it.]
It's Downies.
Some lucky Macquarie Mint subscribers were lucky enough to get a Tuvaluvian redback coin at issue price.
I think it was racv that they get your details from, cos it turned up with that catalog in the mail?
Here ya go, I was going to put this up the other day when I got it as it's a total jip when you read what you have to do and they're not even silver.."copper enriched in pure silver", to me this is just the new way of saying plate/coated and don't forget the "prooflike" WTF is that suppose to mean :scratch_one-s_head:

Didn't they do this last year to Victorian residents with some Melbourne commemorative thing?
These are just crap and YES I have been nieve enough to buy this junk in the past :dash1:
It most certainaly won't happen again :good:
It's standard Macquarie Mint hype, and standard Macquarie Mint sales tactics: suck people in with a "bargain" and then hope they can't be bothered cancelling the standing order after next month. Note the phrase in the fine print about "I understand that I will receive the remaining commemoratives..."
Someone signing up for the "whole set" of 24 medals is going to pay $1357.80 over the next two years, for a bunch of medals worth maybe $100 to $200 on the resale market (if you can find a buyer). And of course once the two years are over, they'll probably automatically sign you up for the next programme.
At least this time they're not falsely claiming to be issuing "legal tender coins" that aren't actually legal tender.
