It will be interesting to see how many countries want to claim a stake in this if it has been found.

And the orchestra kept playing as it went down. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQf2TiwBFHo)
Historians have known where it is for a Hundred Years or more but there is never been a strong push to +ID or raise other than a couple of nature programmes on PayTV. In the 1960's we had a guy come to our School to give a talk on the Endeavour, the group he was involved in was trying to raise funds to bring back what was left of it on the bottom of Newport Harbour to Aust.,obviously never happened, lets hope the Govt. does something this time around.
Wicki..."Endeavour was largely forgotten after her epic voyage and spent the next three years sailing to and from the Falkland Islands. She was sold into private hands in 1775 and later renamed as Lord Sandwich; she was hired as a British troop transport during the American War of Independence and was scuttled in a blockade of Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island in 1778. Her wreck has not been precisely located but is thought to be one of a cluster of five in Newport Harbor. Relics are displayed at maritime museums worldwide, including six of her cannon and an anchor."
Interesting, didn't know any of that.
National Geographic did a show on it a few years back, they had divers down, not much left but a few timbers and ballast stones but may be more underneath in the mud, artifacts raised from the area in modern times are stored in a Newport Building apparently.
Oz Govt. would want to act fast with the respective US Govt/Authorities because things are stirring again in NZ.
