My wife went for the weekly shopping today. Had only been home about 20 minutes when number 1 grandson turned up wanting to get the plastic model grocery products.
Seems a good promotion for Coles and no doubt paid for by the manufacturers of the featured products. Pity it is at the same time as their poor, fluctuating announcements about the plastic bags.
My daughter sent this link earlier which seems a good take on it. I Am So Obsessed With This (https://www.facebook.com/christianhull/videos/1054694468020890/) [Warning, inelegant language but not extreme.]
I seem to remember that an earlier supermarket give away (plastic figures from Woolworths possibly) generated some discussion and swapping on the forum.
Oh. I just realised I haven't gotten ANY. Total fail on their part. I'll have to grab my receipts and go complain. Or my miserable inadequate life will be totally incomplete and I'll have to go hurl myself off a 40 storey Milo tin or something.
I thought you'd choose the Nutella jar McDuck ...... :laugh2:
Packet of plastic shopping items for a dolls house = $2.50 from the reject shop. PASS.
Packet of plastic shopping items for a dolls house = $900 from Coles. OMG!!!1!!11!!!eleven!!
That said, they've also got it in the form of a lottery, by the use of blind bags, so they also hit the human gambling nerve as well. Brilliant.
I watched a lady on the train open two bags the other night. Visible frowny face when she got "Coles Eggs", but she was joyous with a little clap when she got a "Colgate Toothpaste".
This promotion is a masterclass in marketing.

:i_agree:
My cynical side suggests it probably was "borrowed" from somewhere overseas.
My wife has started to collect them and is now swapping doubles of them with other facebook friends.
Now she can't have a go at me for collecting coins haha.
Unbelievable . .Check this out!! ...... $510 for the set!

Dunno about that...
A long long time ago, in an alternate life far far away, I was on the other side of the whole CCG (Collectible Card Game) thing. Random distribution and differing rarities are very much part of the equation, and everybody knows it.
Now, I'm not saying that some of these toys are rarer than others, but it would make a whole lot of sense if they were.
Which kind of reminds me of the most evil set of 3 wishes EVER:
1. I wish aliens would land and hand everyone on Earth a free ticket to a paradise beyond their wildest dreams, where health, happiness and eternal life awaits.
2. I wish that it were proven beyond doubt that the aliens were incapable of lying.
3. I wish that it took ten tickets to get to this paradise.
:diablo:
Looks like a feeding frenzy could be developing with these toy groceries. Reminds me of some of the coin secondary market events of recent times.
Does getting ten tickets entitle me to 72 virgins when I enter paradise?

We are talking about the Collectible Card Game crowd. I think that is a given.

No, only 7.2 :)
30 items would cost $900 with the spend requirement from Coles
If you collect such stuff they are cheap at the $150 BIN price on eBay
Just in case people shop at coles and don't want their mini sales thingies, my wife would appreciate any that people don't want.
She is collecting them for not only herself but for other kids as well.
If you have some and don't want them, please give me a PM and I shall come back to you.
TIA

After this promotion ends Coles will be selling the entire set for $30 with folder so don't get too excited
I think these people need to discover coin collecting.
