I see that the RAM has forgotten about coin collectors that can't get to the Gold Coast and as such will not ber able to secure the limited edition GC Counterstamped $1 coin for each day of the Commonwealth Games that will be issued in a separate coloured folder for each of the days between the 5 - 15 Apr 2018.
In saying that, is there anyone who is reading this ditty, be able to attend the CG2018 Superstore, located at Broadbeach, Queensland on each of the 11 days and secure me two coins per day at an issue cost of $7.50 per coin.
Anyone willing to assist, please PM me and include your phone number so I can ring you and make arrangements for payment and to discuss some reimbursement for trouble and time getting these coins.
TIA
I wouldn't stress too much Goldseeker about the so called different folders they will be all the same
Sorry Goldseeker, there's no way can access all issues of the folder. I will attempt to visit the Gold Coast at some point, but there's no way I'm prepaired to suffer the trials and tribulations of the traffic every day. If I go down at all, it will be only on one day, but I'm happy to see what I can do. That's if I can get there, because it's going to be a dogs breakfast I think!!
This seems to be a rather weird promotion,
eleven days with eleven different folders, 1,000 each day.
Is it aimed at the tourist, or the ticket holders to different events?
But certainly not collectors?
I can't see a tourist who is staying at the GC going to line up on eleven different days to get a coin with a different folder
11 coins @ $7.50 $82.50 for the same coin.
Now somebody that is attending the games, is unlikely to have tickets to events on eleven different days & line up to get a coin with eleven different folders, again, 11 coins @ $7.50 $82.50 for the same coin.
Now as far as I can tell, & I am probably wrong here with this assumption, that they only people who would be mildly interested in eleven coins in eleven different folders, would be dedicated coin collectors.
They would be dedicated to line up on eleven different days to get eleven different folders.
But who could do this?
Has got me stumped 1,000 coins per day, with a maximum of five coins per customer, on eleven different days,
so they don't expect to sell many per day at $7.50 per coin.
$7.50 x 1,000 x 11 = $82,500

Hi Interest
Without a shadow of a doubt eBay sellers will have a picnic with these :@
I can see the attraction with having all 11 folders with same coin in it from a collector point of view, however the GC Counterstamp Borobi would be a nice $1 coin for the collection
RAM are doing similar ... same coin 5 different folders in their Visitor Gallery with the rascals and ratbags $1

Hey runway
I can also see the attraction of having all eleven folders, couple years ago I would have tried very hard to get the set as well.
It seems a strange idea to me to have that many folders which make up a set at an event with such a transient crowd who are not here for the folders.
Maybe after the games the mint will sell a complete set of the folders with coins, or maybe Downies will.
I wish anyone who will be attending on all eleven days, the very best of luck & could you please pick up a set for me?
I'm considering going down to get the set, but I haven't made a final decision yet.
Does anyone think the coins will sell out before the end of the day?
I have tickets to a lot of the night events, so it will be very easy for me to pick up the coins on the way there, but I'm worried that I may have to go down in the morning to avoid missing out.
If anyone's still interested, please let me know, because I've just spent a whole heap of money on the latest ANZAC coins, and I may need you to pay me in advance before I go and get them.
I'm a bit confused by all your PMs, especially those from Jenn and Goldie.
Is this what I'm meant to be getting?
- 2 sets for Jenn
- 2 sets for Goldie
- 1 set for Interest
- 1 set for Rolly
As I recall, there is a limit of 5 per person, so I'm not sure how I'm going to get all these plus another set for myself. Any advice would be appreciated.
Take someone with you or line up again
Hello Hercules, yes that's what I meant and of course if it's convenient for you.

Hard to say - on Australia Day there seemed to be no interest but I guess a lot more people will be in town during the games.
I'd be going first thing if I was going as I wouldn't want to risk it.

Get someone, a child, who is standing just in front or behind you and let that child be the second person.
Be warned, ask the parents of that child first if you can "borrow" the child.
I have done it and it works.
Its not the RAM anymore, its the RACP ..... Royal Australian Coin Packager.
Mike
I wish to send a special thanks to Hercules of a herculean effort in getting me the sets of coins.
Thanks in a big way.

No problem, Goldie. It was definitely worth the time and effort. I still can't believe just how popular those coins were. :)
$250 is the cheapest selling price on thieveBay for full set
With only 1,000 sets maximum, the price will sour in the short time.
Remember, not everyone was able to secure the "11 coin day set" so I think only around 500 full sets are out there.
As a result, the price should, by the formulae demand and availability, should well and truly sky rocket.
Lets keep an eye on this one.
It was most definitely a Herculean effort for anyone and everyone who lined up every single day for 2 to 3 hours to get the full set of coins. I only went one day and that was enough for me. So if you consider the time and efort that went into putting those sets together $250-$350 really isn't too bad a price for all 11 coins.
I only wanted an example of the coin for the collection I wasn't too concerned about the different packaging each day. I went on day 10 and have a couple of spares if anyone is looking for one, I am happy to trade for other $1 coins.
It was really only the last few days that were difficult. Most days, I was in and out within 5 or 10 minutes. :)
Here are my approximate arrival and purchase times, along with the approximate sellout times:
Arrive Batch 1 Batch 2 Sellout
Day 1: 7:57 8:07 8:08 2:30
Day 2: 7:56 8:13 l 8:25 b1 1:30
Day 3: 8:04 8:09 8:13 1:30
Day 4: 7:56 8:09 8:13 12:30
Day 5: 7:57 8:05 8:08 12:00
Day 6: 7:58 8:04 8:08 11:50
Day 7: 8:03 8:06 8:10 11:00
Day 8: 7:57 8:04 8:29 b2 10:00
Day 9: 7:45 8:25 f 8:25 f 10:00
Day 10: 7:26 8:19 9:12 10:00
Day 11: 7:33 9:13 f 9:13 f 9:50
Notes
l Shop opened 5-10 minutes late
b1 Browsed the shop for 5-10 minutes between receiving and purchasing this batch
b2 Browsed the shop for 10-20 minutes between receiving and purchasing this batch
f Bought both batches at once due to another family member being present
As you can see, the queue on Days 1-8 was really short, so it's only Days 9-11 that had the really long queues. :)
I wonder if these will be cataloged in the Renniks or McDonalds ?
I'm sure Maccas will make reference to them, even if it's just a footnote. :winkextra:
Macca's listed the special sets of PNC's sold over six days of the Intl coin/stamp fair from a couple of years ago so why wouldn't the 11 day special issue sets be listed.

Because they are not PNCs I'd say
Footnote yes but not likely to be given a value as the Catalogue is a guide only :tease:
I'm not so sure runway.
11 days, 1000 coins per day in SEPARATE DAILY folders, all with the GC/CG incuse counterstamp on each coin.
Makes me feel that both will be listing them due to the low limit of the packaged product.
