No mention of what the MYO coin will be.

How could anyone know if this would be of interest to them with the most vital bit of info missing?

Methinks the RAM Marketing Dept needs some lessons in common sense. :whistle2:

Took a little trip to the GC this morning, unfortunately the RAM display was just that, a display. The Manager of the GC2018 superstore ( a semi permanent marquee erected in the park ) said the portable press won't be there till Friday 26th Australia Day. A pitty the RAM couldn't deliver that info when I rang them earlier today, so not sure I'll go down or not now Grrrrrrr

Maybe a special Games counterstamp or the usual Australia Map counterstamp.

The coin to be counterstamped is the $1 Commonwealth Games - Borobi.
When I phoned the mint today the lady said that they were $7.50 each to counterstamp as a special promotion.

That's certainly a cheap Borobi.

Must be the cardboard packaging which adds an extra $7.50 to the cost from the RAM eshop

I wonder how many people made the trip yesty or will make the trip today only to find out they've been supplied with dud info.  :@

RAM certainly need to get their act together. I'm so glad I don't collect their fodder anymore.

Heh! I'm hooked on the counterstamp dollars, but they do become more expensive when two trips are required, would be better to source them from dealers after they get their allocation! It would be just my luck for this to be the first occasion when dealers didn't get a leg up!

Don't knock the Borobi. I was at Wynyard Coins the other day and there was one very excited little girl who is getting one from her dad. She absolutely loved it and gushing over the details. One very happy collector.

I'm certainly not knocking him.

I'm a big fan.

As they say ... you can't spell highway robbery without Borobi.

I've got a bunch more, but I've forgotten where abouts in the backyard I buried them.

I wanted them, because  was able to buy a 2018 dated coin, with Queen Elizabeth II's head on it back in April 2017 ... and I didn't think she'd make it through to January.

Made the trip again today to counter stamp heaven, and even though I'm not a fan of the mints coloured offerings I couldn't help it, counterstamp is the priority  :yahoo:

I would be putting that coin in a 2x2 as I don't think against the plastic in that packaging would do the coin any good.

I have two spares of the borobi counterstamp. If anyone wants them they are welcome to them at my cost which is $7.50 each plus registered post whatever that will be, probably around $5 or $6 maybe more, I would advise before sending. Keep in mind dealers will probably receive an allocation of these coins, and at a guess may ask $12.50 for them, which could finish up cheaper than paying for postage.

Anyhow, first in best dressed.

I swung by yesterday - seemed very quiet - only a family was in front of me and that was it.
The lady from the mint was quite nice and got out the medals as well.

If anyone in QLD or whoever is heading to the pop up shop and doesn't mind getting me 2, please drop me a message! Am still trying to get them. I mean eBay has them, but they're $25 to $30 each. Thanks in advance!

The RAM hasn't come to Sydney for a very long time. About time they do. It's the largest city after all. Not a happy Jan.

Probably much higher after round two - I got a marketing email from the Melbourne Mint which said "early indications from the RAM suggested that LESS THAN 2,000 of this Borobi 'Map' Counterstamp would be produced", and being there on the 26th I very much doubt 2,000 people passed through.

Will pay $35 to cover coins plus your efforts.

I wouldn't trust the Melbourne Mint propaganda on this nor the claims he was at Berlin World Coin Fair ... just another dealer promoting themselves
