I know Nancy will be watching tennis,
but where is everyone else? :s
Yesterday I was helping friends prepare for their sons' (twins) 21st birthday party. Last night I went to the party but left shortly after the one young ones were starting to get into yahoo mode -they were just starting a game of beer pong (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beer_pong#Alcohol), the aim of which, as far as I can tell is to get all participants (and spectators) drunk. Back today to help clean up.
Otherwise trying to keep my plants alive* in this extra hot weather -very bad when we get the strong, westerly winds. In between taking refuge inside in front of the air conditioner.
Keeping an eye on the forum and have noticed how quite it is lately. I haven't been able to think of anything constructive to post lately.
*I am glad I have a bore because I couldn't afford that exercise buying Council water.
Same here, it's been too bloody hot :heat:
I have been a very good boy cataloging my world banknote collection. I picked up a bunch of German Notgelds a while back and finally sorting through it.
I came across this funny looking one with a giant lobster on it. Why? What the? How?!

Yes, I too have just been popping in to see what's happening. Have been getting a little bit of sorting done but reorganising much of the house of late under the direction of Mrs Uni so that's been keeping me quite busy. Hoping that normal services will resume as soon as possible. :laugh2:
Nice to know you haven't all fallen off the edge of the world. :)
Both of my pcboth
Both of my p/have goon bad so i am just learning on my sons old tablet he gave me
I was away in Cairns with family for a holiday.
Have not had much to say - there was no noodling then or since.
Maybe this week? ☺

Goon bad? Is that anything like a goon bag? :taunt: Worked (security) today at the SCG (Australia lost
again). Twice I busted members of the barmy army (English cricket fans) with goon bags (the bladders of wine in wine casks). So not at home to cruise ACF but the extra cash comes in handy to buy more coins.
Sorry I haven't posted much recently. I got a new job last month, where I work Monday to Saturday, and have one day off each week for scheduled appointments. Having been unemployed for a while, I'm not used to having so little time for myself, and I'm not sure how to fit my hobbies around it. On the upside, I can now afford to do large amounts of $2 noodling, so I'm hoping to find a lot more of the coloured $2 coins, and add them to my collection. I also went to the Gold Coast yesterday to visit some of the theme parks, so the last week or so has been chock-a-block for me. Hopefully, with Australia Day around the corner, I'll get some more time for coins. :winkextra:
As Steve said, Tennis has been keeping me fairly occupied, but not many Aussies left to watch now, apart from the doubles.
I can't explain why, but I can't stand Nadal, never have liked watching him, also can't stand Sharapova. Maybe they were the first of the really loud 'grunters' to appear, although Sharapova is more of a shriek. I have noticed that she doesn't make any noise while practicing, and I reckon she's trying to put off her opponents in her matches.
However, I will watch them when I know they get beaten. Gives me something to cheer about. Onedown, one to go. :tease:

Yeah, very quiet the last Month or so,hardly any new Posts.
I'm in the same boat as regards time but hope to get back into it later in the year,i still visit almost every day.
Forums need regular Posters to keep it humming along,AJ & Trout used to do that here previously.
It doesn't take much to get some activity happening in the forum.
I started this thread and look we already have 13 replies. :)
Nancy, some of the players reckon the grunt is like a kiai from a
martial artist, which they use to put more power in their puches etc,
but as a karateka, I can tell you that it is possible to do silent kiais,
and I which the players would, as it's most annoying. :(
I pop in almost every day but unless the topic/subject appeals to me I will not make any comment(s).
In fact, not much excitement at all world wide.
Been away for a week, not that I look in much nowadays anyway...
...it seems...
...different now. :/
Still here, wondering why everyone went quiet (and also keeping an eye on Coin Community and http://www.predecimal.com/forum/index.php).

I've had a lot on with my odd jobs so no noodling or bought a coin for ages. I've been given 12 months to get some of the bigger jobs done so we can use the garage so ATM I'm putting up a fence so that clears the BBQ area so I can then fill it in to be used as a shed and then I can get back into noodling etc.
Look in most days but haven't done much in the way of coins lately apart from a 1925 broken leg of N penny in VF.
Oh yeah, back before Xmas I did have a brush with an excellent 1919 double dot penny on ebay that would easily go XF45 in my opinion, didn't get it but I suspect a fellow forum member did, but he aint fessing up
Been spending most of my hours lately in the dream time of model railways, but not much happening in the way of starting a layout, too many interests, so I figure something has to give.
To further complicate my life, I acquired an engine lathe a couple of months back, and have been spending time revisiting some old skills, or should I say, skills I never possessed
Quote"skills I never possessed "
The old saying "practice makes perfect" (or at least better) would most likely apply there. I set up my lathe in the shed shared with my son and he has since stacked up so much stuff I can't even get to it to give it a good try. :banned:

he he my daughter would do the same if I wasn't so "selfish and inconsiderate" That's not what she says, it's what I admit to
The advances in machine tooling was the big eye opener. Back in 1972 I worked in a machine shop for a short period and only had experience with mild steel, cast iron and brass. We ground our own tooling from blanks of tool steel or high speed steel, and if something harder was needed you sweated a tungsten tip on the end. These days tool holders come with a batch of multy edge screw on tips, so too many years in the wilderness for me, and I have a project in mind that requires some stainless machining, hmmm could be interesting, but fun :yahoo:
I have drilled stainless and it's a slow process. Need lots of lubrication/cooling otherwise a HSS tip overheats very quickly. Punch would be better but, if using screw together hand punches, you still need a pilot hole.

So true! Just yesterday I drilled some 6mm stainless in the drill press, but ran the drill at half recommended speed and used some tapping compound as lubricant, worked a treat.

Quiet in the forum today. I don't think there has been one post. :(
I think everyone is busy and most have somehow lost interest... I enjoyed the banter here ... Hopefully people will come back again.....
I have been away for several days and no internet or phone contact. Obviously I didn't miss anything.

Yeah, hope it kicks off again,i try to post as much as i can but it was mostly AJ & Trout that kept the momentum going.
Perhaps opening this section up to the Public will help as we will get all the Google traffic instead of the US Forum.
We need a Aussie based Forum.
Now where is AJ ? Are you there mate ????? Also Trout ?? Are you still around?

Don't know about AJ -too warm yet for him to go into hibernation.
Trout was lurking here earlier today I noticed.

Yes i did Nancy,my Post was ambiguous in meaning. Both myself and my BIL have purchased off the Purple Penny.
What i was getting at was this Forum has been getting the wobbles of late and i wish it to continue.
The one that started in the early 2000 had a promising start, then a bit of infighting between Posters(not me) that believed they were in the right then the owners decided it was all too hard and it disappeared.
I don't want this one to fold as there is a wealth of knowledge(again, not me) amongst its Posters.

I am still here Mate, I have just been very busy getting ready for an extended trip to the Kimberlies, the NT and the Gulf in about 6 weeks time.
I have rebuilt much of my Landrover and Mrs Trouts Hilux over the last year and I still have to install a solar system on the new (to us) caravan also I have to fit an anchor winch and a few other goodies to a Trailcraft 540 supercab boat I have just bought to replace the old tinny.
Just not enough hours in the day Mate :)
