Wynyard Stamps and Coins sent me an email today regards the Ford Coins. They are taking orders for the tinned sets.
The RAM has them on their website too.
Limit 3 per order.
Yes!! The XY beast is included. :)

Wait a sec. have those gone on sale and sold out already?
I looked at new releases on the weekend and there was no mention of the ford set.
Edit: tried ringing customer number, but they are closed due to labour day long weekend. Which makes a public holiday release even more strange
You can still get them at Wynyard mate. Going for the same price with cheaper delivery fees and a further discount depending on how much you spend in total! A better deal than the RAM I reckon.
Hmmm, it's enquiry only for the set. Individual coins are available to order (like on the RAMint site)

Wow that was quick! I had just placed the order prior to my post! I'm sure the eShop of the RAM will have it back on. It tends to show it as unavailable and then refreshes the next working day. Fingers crossed! Otherwise the other online shops should still have them.
Just did a google search (facepalm that I didn't do this earlier), and bought a set from the first result.
www.directcoins.com.au
Thanks for hinting that I could look elsewhere
Oh, and with the way this has been made available (e.g. through dealers), this set can not have the meteoric rise that the Holden set did.

Who'd buy more than 3?!?!
Direct Coins are now out of stock -perhaps seedyrom bought their last set.
Downies (http://www.downies.com/royal-australian-mint-coins/Australia-2017-50-Cent-Ford-Australia-Heritage-12-Coin-Collection/9088/productview.aspx) still have them and I was able to purchase there.
One coin for $165??

Now available on the RAMint website
"TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE" (https://eshop.ramint.gov.au/product-category.aspx?KWD=ford) still.
How bizarre.
So I got an email response to my RAMint query from yesterday. It told me to call their customer number and I could order it over the phone.
I looked online and it was marked "temporarily unavailable ".
Whilst I was on hold, I checked the website again, and it was available.
So I hung up, and transacted online.
Just looked, and yes? It is unavailable again.
I think you will need to look constantly throughout the day, or place the order by phone
According to Downies catalogue, total mintage is limited to 10,000 sets/tins.
They are quoting the Mint on that figure.
10 000 tins with 12 coins and 30 000 in total of the 11 coloured coins
PNCs will have the coloured coins and most likely be not included in the 30 000 mentioned

I went on the RAM Website and they were unavailable. So called the customer enquiry line and was able to order a set over the phone. I asked the operator why it was unavailable online and she said they have done that to be able to monitor the amount of sales and ensure the website does not melt down. They are getting a lot of enquiries about these Ford Coins.
Ordered the 2018 Year of the Dog $1 and 50 cent coins too plus another NCLT $1 coin commemorating the Battle of Beersheba while I was at it.
Cheers Mike
And the RAM is now sold out as well! That was really really quick!
I received the latest copy of the Mint Issue today and the Ford coins a heavily featured -front cover and first two inside pages.
Go to the website and "Ford Australian Classic Collection Tin Set: SOLD OUT".
They also say "The individual coins and the empty tin are still available and can be found on the website". That makes me suspicious of their publicised mintage figure of 10,000. The opportunity exists then to make up sets by purchasing the individual coins and the empty tin. Slightly higher cost that way, but no more than what people are asking on eBay. How many more of these do they have? And are the 10,000 numbered -that would make a difference.
Smells rather like an issue that trout raised recently of limited issues not being any such thing.
And what a smack in the face for their subscribers! Get the catalogue and they sold out a few days ago. They should allow time for people to receive their offer before releasing them. How hard is it to set a nominated release date?
After the Holden coin frenzy they surely would have known what would happen. I notice that some dealers are selling them at a substantial markup from retail price but other dealer have stuck with the recommended price. That suggest they are receiving some sort of discount (probably too small to be reasonable I suspect).
The 11 Ford loose coins have a mintage of 30,000 but the limited edition non coloured coin has a mintage of 10,000 which is included in the tin set is the one sold out.

[/quote]
I think this is probably what the 10,000 really means as what jen has said. In a way I feel it is false advertising stating a mintage of 10,000 but now they are selling the tin cans for others to make their own 11 coin set. I mean it is nice that this gives others who have missed out on the full sets a chance to have an almost complete set, but it defeats the purpose of having the limited edition tin set of coins when all that is really special in the set now is the uncoloured 50c coin.
But I reckon them selling the tin cans at $15 bucks each is to counter against those selling them for $100 each on eBay.
Look at this ebay ripoff merchant ..... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AUSTRALIA-2017-FORD-CLASSIC-COLLECTION-12-x-50c-50-CENTS-UNC-COINS-IN-TIN-SET/112586319098?_trkparms=aid%3D777003%26algo%3DDISCL.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140107090229%26meid%3Dbb60c5692ae14a7c98f8299fd6c448e7%26pid%3D100012%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D132347988124&_trksid=p2047675.c100012.m1985

$550 for the set or $320 for the single uncoloured set coin. Absolute thievery of the first order.
One of the unfortunate things about this Ford Collection release was the timing of the release.
It corresponded with a public holiday in Victoria on the Friday and a public holiday in ACT and NSW on the Monday.
Also there has been a marked delay in the postal distribution of booklets/publications over the last few weeks with the "mail out SSM Opinion Survey".
The arrival of the RAMINT booklet did not arrive until Tuesday at the earliest.
The RAMINT was closed for phone orders on Monday.
The website showed the Ford collection from Saturday.
Mind you, those in the know knew the collection was coming, as it had been announced in the Currency Determination no 4 of July 26th and the APO Stamp Bulletin 349 has had details of the PNCs (but with the coin design embargoed) since late September.
Good luck to those who have managed to obtain a set or two - based on the success of the Holden set where even now, $500 will be required to obtain one.
Interestingly, the going price of 3 times the original price is pretty much in line with what has happened historically with limited release coins and banknotes over the last 50 years.
Cheers

Playing on the old ditty ....
A groovy blue tin and some bits of cardboard .....
Put them together .... a release that was flawed .....
Peter, no wonder the release ran a bit rough ...... the timing was out ..... :laugh2: .... I'm sure they'll turn-over well (stopping now).
Good luck to those that got one, I would have tried if I was flushed (or if there'd been a Blue XD Wagon Jeff)!
Just got my "Mint Issue" catalogue in the mail on Thursday 5th October at 12.30pm. Luckily I ordered my set on Tuesday when just on the off chance I decided to have a look the RAM website. Ended up ordering over the phone after hanging on for about 30 minutes. It was also a public holiday in Queensland on Monday.
Sorry for naming that Ebay Shyster on here Nevol ... I think we all know who they are anyway.
Cheers Mike

I have an idea why the release is so botched (e.g. public holiday/double long weekend).
The mint currently has their e-commerce position advertised.
https://www.ramint.gov.au/news-media/jobs/e-commerce-officer
They are paying 25% less than the average Canberra wage.
It's obvious how they value the position and role.
QuoteThey are paying 25% less than the average Canberra wage.

What is the average Canberra Wage?
They also probably wanted to get this set out before the Bathurst 1000 this weekend and got caught what with the
e-commerce position being vacant, footy finals, long weekends etc.
Go Falcon ..... ;)

To celebrate the recent release of the Ford Australian Classic Coin Collection, the Mint will have a pop-up shop at the Capital All Ford Day car show on Sunday 15 October at the Queanbeyan Showgrounds NSW.
The Mint will be selling a very limited supply of the following items:
- Complete Ford Coin Collection Tin ($160.00 RRP) (limited to 1 set per customer)
- Individual Ford Coins ($15.00 RRP)
- Empty Ford Collection Tin ($15.00 RRP) (limited to 1 tin per customer)"
So they must be holding back some for this event.

Sent a mail order form off on Wednesday. Got back from the post office and it had ticked over to "sold out".
They just charged my credit card for 3 sets.
So they certainly have some in reserve ;)
So "SOLD OUT" must mean something different to what I thought it did.
If you live in Queanbeyan you probably work in Canberra and would already have called at the mint shop.
It does make sense though, given what the event is. Capital All Ford Day (http://www.fordperformanceact.com/home/capital-all-ford-day/)

Well spotted notcb and I'm glad the real motor enthusiacs will get the chance to buy coins they most likely never even knew about :thank_you:
My two sets arrived today and look what was on the outside of the individual boxes/wrapping:
An absolutely excellent package Goldie!!! :good:
That's the way to use up all those old, small value "MUH" (http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=8995) stamps. I have been putting multiple stamps on some stuff lately just to use them up -one Post Office staff member always checks the postage and adds them up. I try to avoid him because it means an extended wait to get the posting done.
The other staff members just take me on trust. I overheard one ask him one day if he had ever caught me out. He answered "always right or, sometimes, a few cents over". She suggested not to bother checking but he still does it.
I have never covered a box that much but my wife received one once that included a full sheet each of 1¢ and 2¢ stamps.
Have those stamps been franked Goldie?
But have a look at the rest of the box:
Still can't see any cancellation marks there either.
I sent a 5kg box of used stamps to the U.S. a few years ago,
and did the exact same thing.
A nice added bonus GS, well done :good:
Yes, more than happy with the parcel, stamps and of course, the two sets of Ford Coins.
My sets from the mint haven't arrived yet, but the set I bought through a reseller came through on Monday.
My sets I ordered from Downies on 3rd October (10 days ago) have not even been packed, let alone dispatched. Here is what they advised yesterday;
"We are pleased to advise that we have now charged your credit card and your order has been sent to our warehouse for dispatch.
This is the final step before your order leaves our warehouse, you will receive another email once your order has been shipped."
Yet their website boasts "Mail Order – fast & efficient!". I don't understand their meaning of "fast".
Sorry, removed by the author.
Go to Queanbeyan on Sunday
https://www.ramint.gov.au/news-media/news/mint-capital-all-ford-day-event-queanbeyan-nsw
Those tins sure do take up a lot of room in the safe.
Just got my Ford set delivered ... Wow .. What a beautiful set it is. Just the tin by itself is awesome. The coin cards inside have massive mounts of information about each car. Obviously very well researched by whoever put it together. The extra insert with the Ford in Australia timeline is also very impressive.
I think they have bettered the Holden set they did last year, but then Fords have always bettered Holden's ;)

And I thought I was the cynical one.
I thought it was very logical Jeff :laugh2: but I must admit there is cynical streak somewhere within :D .
Pedro
Both logical and cynical and a grain of truth as well I think. I mark that as 2½ out of 3.
I bought four of these Ford sets; two for family members and two on spec for people I thought would want them -didn't have time to check if they would want them as RAM was sold out and few dealers had any left (often at a marked up price).
Well the other people thought $160 too high for a set of only 12 x 50¢ coins. So I have one on eBay now. Ford Australian Classic Collection -Genuine, limited Mint set (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/253213773649?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649)
After seeing what happened with the Holden set (I was too late for that) I knew it would be most likely a feeding frenzy and I would get my money back (plus a slight profit) if I was stuck with some.
With selling fees and postage cost I am just above break even now.
Hopefully will end up matching (or bettering) the prices of other recent sales of this set Jeff (with a nice little profit to boot) - good luck!
Pedro
I only bought 2 of the XY Falcon carded coins.
Placed the order on the 5th and just been
advised that they have been shipped. That's
2 weeks just to ship them. Now to see how
long they take to arrive.
I have a feeling that these two sets of Holden and Ford coins won't be the last we will see.
The Holden Coins were branded "Heritage" and went up to the 1980 VC Commodore.
the Ford Coins are branded as "Classic" and go up to the 1981 XE Falcon.
This leaves a huge gap up to the present time. So I suspect we will get another Holden and Ford Set from the mid 80's to the present.
The later Holden set could include the Gemini, Barina, Camira, Caprice, Crewman, Colorado, Malibu, Various HSV types etc.
The later Ford set could include the Meteor, Laser, Focus, AU Falcon, FG Falcon, Territory, Mondeo, GTF etc
The mint are onto a money spinner so why not?
Mike
Ordered my set from Downies on the 1st of October. Got an email a week ago to say my card is now being charged. Still have not seen the delivery. Ordered a couple of single coins from the mint and 2 spare tins 2 weeks ago. Still not delivered!!

Hi Jimmy,
Downies advertises "fast" mail order service but it is anything but.
I'm having a bit of trouble remembering but with the Holden sets and the day at the Mint when they launched them and I accidentally happened to be at the mint i.e. not realising the launch was on, I met a friendly guy from the holden club that were the people who drove their heritage cars in and had them on display. He said the RAM had done focus groups with them regarding the cars and public opinion. But ultimately the choice of the cars for the sets was determined by Holden. So there was disagreement between what Holden saw as the most popular cars and what the collectors club members thought and what the public actually purchased and used.
When you compare the Holden coins to the Ford ones there is an obvious difference. Almost all of the Holden ones have got an image of one of the Holden cars including a human posing next to it. The Ford ones don't have any of that model posing with the car type of rubbish. You just get an image of the car. Good to see the RAM are constantly improving their product. :)
However they cheaped out on the coin cards that hold the coins with the Ford set. The Holden ones had a pop up type of insert. The Ford ones don't.
Plus the side of the Holden Tin had raised and depressed painted words, the Ford one is just painted on flat metal. :(
Mike
Haven't taken mine out of the box to see, but that's a shame. That embossing of the Ford logo is the cultural image of the brand
And what silly prices they are starting to fetch.
The 12 coin set is selling lately around the $300 to $320 mark but check these out;
•2017 Ford Australian Classic Uncoloured 50cent carded UNC (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2017-Ford-Australian-Classic-Uncoloured-50cent-carded-UNC-/182838022251?hash=item2a91fed06b%3Ag%3AP6QAAOSwKIBZ3yNG&nma=true&si=vkS22CtoL4%252Fp%252Bd4muwX8eOR2Tao%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557) $299.99 A few more dollars would have purchased a full 12 coin set in the tin.
•However 2017-RAM-FORD-AUSTRALIA-CLASSIC-COLLECTION-50c-12-COIN-SET-with-rare-12th-coin (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2017-RAM-FORD-AUSTRALIA-CLASSIC-COLLECTION-50c-12-COIN-SET-with-rare-12th-coin-/142537625497?hash=item212fe78f99%3Ag%3AYk8AAOSwuoxZ3bTZ&nma=true&si=vkS22CtoL4%252Fp%252Bd4muwX8eOR2Tao%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557) $405 Buy it now shortly after.

Astounding nonsense happening there.

However the lid is embossed with that classic logo.
These Ford tins haven't reached the dizzy heights that the Holden can reached on Ebay.
Give it time. Ford lovers have more dollars than sense.
Though I really would like some space back. I went from panicking and having none, to having 7 of the damn things.
It's my retirement fund.
I don't see how they will reach the lofty heights of the Holden tins. The supply mechanism was poles apart.
There must be a heap of dealers sitting on a stockpile of Holden tins as they drip feed them to the community. The ford ones were so much easier to obtain by the general unwashed.
