Title: Pay all your bills with Crypto
Post by: Fulvio on August 28, 2017, 05:35:41 PM
Well, it took us considerable effort to convince them, but Living Room of Satoshi in Brisbane have finally added Dogecoin as a supported currency for their bill-payment service:

https://www.reddit.com/r/dogecoin/comments/6wht9h/now_you_can_pay_any_australian_bill_with_dogecoin/

Basically, they will swap your cryptos for cash which they will pay your bills with using bpay, or deposit to your bank.

I still need to put the rates under a microscope, but there are no fees for this service. So its just a matter of being able to buy coins cheaper than the current rate they use to convert them.

Easy to do if you have mining, faucet or referral income, or other income stream in crypto. Otherwise, its a matter of signing up to an exchange such as https://www.coinspot.com.au/?affiliate=flv (yes, that's my referral link, cos why not?) and buying whenever prices dip.

The advantage of using Dogecoin is that the fees to transfer coins are virtually non-existent. 1 Doge or even zero depending how you do it, versus several dollars for Bitcoin. Plus its almost instant, whereas Bitcoin can take hours or even days to go through.

It was being discussed last week on Radio by a couple of Journo's,it was in relation to the CTB drama.Libs are looking at legislation to control the Crypto.'s that may cripple them at least in Oz.
I tried Google but nothing showed so i guess we will hear more down the track from the ATO or Treasury/Finance.

Good luck with that.

Wallets are just numbers. Nothing more nor less. And you can't stop or prevent access to numbers. For example, here's a batch of wallets from https://walletgenerator.net/:

There is no way to know if those wallet keys are known to anyone, and if so, who. Sure, you can see any transactions on the blockchain, but you don't know who made them, or why. This, for example, is the prize wallet for a competition I'm currently running on Reddit. The private key is actually hidden in the addresses of the wallets that deposited into it, and anyone who can work out how is welcome to claim the coins. If nobody does by the end of the month, I'll empty the wallet and post the details of how it was done.

The point is that while governments can make the interfaces difficult, by pulling stunts like closing bank accounts, they can't control possession of information. I could write any of those keys down in any way I wish, and nobody would know.

That's kind of the whole point, really.

I think you will find the Gov is bringing the Crypto dealers under AUSTRAC where they will have report all transactions over $10K.
