I have 6 rolls mainly 1 and 2 cent and was wondering how people that have the rolls store them.
I looked in the nick nack shop but there was nothing suitable. I was looking for specimen type tubes
Any suggestions
How about the old M & M Tubes.
Plastic with a tight fitting lid.
I know they can hold 35 x $1 coins as I use to use them when I went to Crown Casino a long time ago.
Might have to put the rolled coin into coin bags, roll tightly and then insert into the tube.
At least that I one way to keep them clean and tidy.
The paper offers absolutely no protection whatsoever.
LDPE like in bank bags also offers little protection. Lots of harmful molecules pass through it like it wasn't there.
HDPE, PP and PET are the go, preferably in combination.
And surprisingly, the humble bags your chips come in are just such a combination, being made up of many layers of different plastics with a printed metal film at its core.
So, what I would do is, put the roll in a ziplock bank bag and roll it up. Put the bag into a (cleaned) chip packet and seal it. Label it of course. Then put the rolls into one of those PP buckets with the tight-fitting airtight lids. Oh and throw a few oxygen and moisture adsorbers into it too.
Cleaning the chip bags is as easy as washing in hot water. And as a bonus this will find any holes the bag might have. If it holds water without leaking, it will keep air out too. That's what it was designed for, after all.
Oh, and this solution is free. Which is a pretty unbeatable price. And it works equally well for rolled-up mint bags. Just make sure you roll them tightly since the easy-tear cut extends into the bag itself.
Thanks for the response gang
Will look at the different solutions provided

Do Salt and Vinegar chip packets leave residue after washing
