Title: And her father owns a pub!
Post by: JeffH on June 07, 2017, 03:24:17 PM
The subject of this thread is the clincher when praising the attributes of a new girlfriend.

But not exactly, in this instance.

One of the local publicans (as it happens an attractive young lady -that's right, she owns a pub) is interested in coins.
Recently she asked me for advice on what to look for in change. I checked what she has picked out so far and she has more changeover coins, NCLT dollars and coloured $2 coins than me so she is doing well. I gave her the previous edition of Maccas and marked the desirable ones; 1985 10¢ and 50¢, ramshead etc.
She has a charity 'pile' of 50¢ on the bar*. I offered to sort and bag those when comes the time but she declined because she now knows what to look for. Drat!, I should not have educated her.

The bad news for unattached, young, male coin collectors is she is already taken :fie:

*A board with an explanatory sign on a post up the middle and the coins are stacked in a wall around the perimeter. As the wall builds up it forms a "bucket" into which donors can drop other coins and the odd note. When it gets too high and in danger of  collapsing, it is demolished, the money cashed in and donated to the nominated charities. So far this year that has raised several thousand dollars.

[Oh no, not another one of Jeff's boring anecdotes.]

Well she has her own source of noodling funds but if she banks with your bank you could be looking at pre-noodled coins eh. :-/

Well we only have one bank in town.
However the laundromat and the bowling club both regularly deposit a $500 bag of $1 and, as far as I know, no noodlers there.
