I mentioned it last year and probably the year before -Gulgong Henry Lawson Heritage Festival (http://www.gulgonghenrylawsonheritagefestival.com/).
If you do happen to be here then I will be on a stand selling coins outside the old Westpac Bank (now an NRMA and real estate agency).
That's a good reason for a visit but Gulgong is worth visiting anytime.
Dame Nellie Melba when asked why she visited Gulgong to perform said "because it is there". True, she did perform in the Prince of Wales Opera House in Gulgong but I made up the quote.
If any forum member is seen at Grenfell (http://www.henrylawsonfestival.com.au/) an that weekend I will be most displeased.
Look out for the loaded dog Jeff!
He's at Grenfell -that is why you should not visit there.
Once the State of Origin is over, no one will care whether it's Gulgong or Grenfell, because both will be on the losing team. :mocking:
Probably true.

Go the Maroons:yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:
I think you "banana benders' are trying to bait us New South Welshmen.
Here are the new State of origin team songs;

Well; surprise, surprise. A forum member saw this post and decided a day trip to Gulgong would be a good idea. He introduced himself when he saw my coin stall so that makes two forum members I have now met face-to-face and both have come Gulgong to meet me. OK then -both have visited Gulgong and did happen to meet me while they were here.
Good one Michael and I am glad your boys liked the gold panning. Tell them not to cash in all their gold at once.
I bet they will be sound asleep before you get home tonight.
P.S. I will be there again tomorrow morning if anyone is coming to Gulgong for the races.
Wish I lived a lot closer. Long drive from Perth. :)
I have met three forum members though.
Nancy (Nevol), Barry (Humpybong) and Cy (Goose).

Thanks Jeff, it was a pleasure to meet you today and we all had a great time at the festival. There was heaps to do and something of particular interest for all of us.
Interesting how one of my boys loved the cars and trucks, yet the other one loved the gold panning. They both loved getting a few extra coins for their collection from you. I even managed to get a couple for myself.
It was a bit under 7 hours for the round trip but with the festival in the middle the drive was not too hard. No unfortunstly they didn't fall asleep (that would have been better for me) I had to put up with a bit of whinging near the end of the drive. Anyway it was well worth the drive.
Thanks again for posting about the event on the forum.
And on again this year. Gulgong Henry Lawson Heritage Festival (https://www.gulgonghenrylawsonheritagefestival.com/)
Main day for a visit is Saturday 9th June (https://www.gulgonghenrylawsonheritagefestival.com/program.html).
I would like to see last year's record of two forum members attending broken this year. :yahoo:
This coin man sighted today at the Gulgong Henry Lawson Festival Markets.

Dreary day with a few showers so smaller crowd than last year. However everyone seemed to be enjoying it.
I didn't quite have everything out on display when my daughter took that shot. Just cutting up some three pocket sheets there for paper notes and still a container of baggies and rolls to unpack.
Nice pic.
I need one of those Possum Magic sets for one of my trading partners overseas.
Good on you.Hope it went well.
What do you think of my display stand?
A Westpac stand they behind when when they shut the local branch. I retrieved it from the back of the strongroom where it was gathering dust behind an assortment of odds and ends.
It was originally floor standing; twice as high and half as wide but was a simple exercise to rejig it. It had a sign "Westpac Investment Services" on top.
My sales were respectable -a good return for basically hanging around chatting to people. I got to meet three reasonably local collectors, who I did not already know, gave them a card and promoted this forum to them. Good possibility of further contact there with maybe some more sales or swaps -all good.
Great photo Jeff! All very stylish .... pity I'm so far away! The stand looks perfect for the purpose and brings a lot more eye attention than a table.
