Is anybody here going?
Having never been to one before is it worth the hour trip?
Cheers
Luke.

I will be there for the 2 days at the Coin Club stands.
Usually a good day and worth the trip, free to enter (gold coin donation) but parking at RNA Showgrounds $13 so I have heard.

You are right about the parking. The RNA defiantly see you coming
I was thinking of going, but then I changed my mind, because I really can't afford to buy anything at the moment, and I'm afraid I'll end up buying things I can't afford. Some people might be able to look without buying, but I really don't think I fall into that category. :laugh2:
I'll probably end up going in for a quick look see, not looking for anything in particular though, my coin collecting has taken a back seat to model railways of late.
Just as long as you don't end up on the wrong side of the tracks auto  sorry I can't help it :mocking: I wanna be good
It's easier to reach the wrong side of the tracks in QLD, it's nearly all narrow gauge up here AJ ;) Good to hear from you :good:
I actually prefer narrow gauge trains, because it means that half the seats are by the window, as opposed to just 40%. This increases my odds of getting a good view. :winkextra:

You should still come and have a look.....always ask the dealer to hold something for you and pay for it later.
Will be flying down for it on Friday arvo after work, and heading back home Sunday afternoon. Looking forward to it. Been over 10 years since I was at the last Brisbane coin show. :)

So the ban has finally been lifted G..long time coming  how long do you think you'll get this time :mocking:

I will be there, along with Humpybong as a coin club volunteer. I'm taking a few days off work from now until the show, to try to get a display together.
And even though I really can't afford it after buying a new car and a holiday to Tasmania, I probably will buy some stuff while I'm there. Previous scientific studies have proven that I'm not psychologically capable of going to a coin show or coin shop and not buy anything.
Show some self restraint Sapyx............
If any of you are planning to come to ANDA Money Expo Saturday or Sunday, please call into the Brisbane Coin Clubs display and ask for humpybong or Barry and say hello.
Looking forward to seeing you there.
Been and done my business already. Seemed smaller than last year.

I think it was the same size as last year but I was held in a much bigger room which gave the impression of the displays and tables being smaller.
Mike
Well I am back at ANDA again today so if any of you plan to attend do not forget to call in at the coin club stand and see the castle of hammered coins.
Also you can say hello to me as well.....
Does anyone know how many Changeover coins were found in the Five Cent Forage? Does anyone know how many 1972s were found?
Do not know if there were any changeover coins but I do know that a few 1972 coin were found.
Thanks, Barry. I've only found one Changeover 5c so far, so I wanted to know whether numbers were increasing. I guess I'll have to test the waters again myself. :)
I was the volunteer-in-charge of the five cent forage. While I wasn't there all the time to confirm, I do know at least four, maybe five, 1972s were found. Also found were at least half a dozen New Zealand tuataras, one Fijian, and one Thai baht that managed to masquerade as a 5 cents. No sixpences this year (one of those was found last year).
At least one kid also claimed to have found a 50th anniversary decimal 5 cents. They were listed on the sheet the kids had as something to look for and I spent some time explaining to them (and the parents) exactly what to look for. And also exactly what "obverse" and "reverse" meant. Good opportunity to teach some budding numismatists some numismatic jargon.
One dad had his two kids searching for double-headers, after they'd filled in their sheets; they sat there for about half a day looking for them. If they found any, they kept quiet about it.
Thanks for the info, Sapyx. That sounds similar to what I've been finding recently. I would be very surprised if anyone found a double-header, because all the people who've found them so far have lived near Sydney.
Here's the list of interesting coins I've found while noodling 5c rolls:
36x New Zealand 5c
2x Malaysia 10 Sen
2x Thailand 1 Baht
1x Australian 6d
1x USA Dime
1x Fiji 5c
A couple of purchases I picked up at the Expo, pretty happy with them :)
A nice little error from Steele Watermans stand.

And an additional plane ticket because I screwed up the return date. Apparently I was a little bit early to the airport to come home. By a week. :)
Wow! Lovely additions G!! :good:
Thanks Uni, :) got some other minor pickups as well, a couple of missing mint sets I needed, a couple of unc 2 cent pieces, Perth mint, and a couple of those limited edition pnc's, (lucky they made it home, unscathed.) :)
Pretty chuffed with the 31 penny.
could have stayed the extra week and had a nice little holiday!!
great coins too
That was the original plan originally :), but due to work committments, I had to change it , made most of the changes but forgot about the return plane ticket. :)
My first and only QE11 Counterfeit florin, picked up at the expo as well.
