I've decided to copy Purple Penny Hunter's idea (https://www.australian-coins.net/showthread.php?tid=229) and create a poll to track the distribution of Changeover coins around Australia.
Please specify which Changeover coins you've found in circulation, along with your area code, so I can get a better idea of where they were released.
Many thanks. :)
This is only from memory, but I would say about 4 50c coins in postcode 6106.
Don't think I've seen any other denominations. :(
I think I stuffed up the poll. Does anyone know how to change it from radio buttons to check boxes?
Never mind. I think I might delete this thread and try again using SurveyMonkey, because I really don't think this poll is able to do what I want it to.
I think I found at least two of each in the greater Brisbane area (maybe only one 20c?) and no $1.
Thanks for your responses. I've finished creating the survey, and moved it to a new thread (https://www.australian-coins.net/showthread.php?tid=5002). Any moderators reading this thread should feel free to delete it, because I cannot make the survey work the way I wanted it to, and had to start over using Survey Monkey. Now, everything works just the way I wanted it to, so this thread is redundant.
I have fixed the poll so that it will allow multiple responces.
Should get results now.
Thanks, humpybong. Unfortunately, I've now got two different surveys running. Should I leave both of them open or just keep one of them? Runway said he preferred the new one in the other thread, because it "gives more scope of reply". I still haven't perfected the second one, but I do think it's better than the one above, because it allows me to separate the location data from the coin data, which is the very reason I'm running this survey.
To make the above poll work properly, you'd have to put the location data and the coin data in separate questions, and allow me to look at the individual responses for both questions combined, because knowing where people live isn't very useful if I don't know which coins they ticked. Thus, it might be better just to remove the area codes altogether, and just ask people which coins they've found. Anything more detailed than that all almost certainly require an external provider, like SurveyMonkey.
I have responded to both anyway.
Ditto
Responded to both as well (but basically found everything except $1 in Victoria)
I've got all of them here in Adelaide already. Though the $1 ones have only been found through noodling. I've probably come across about 10 of them or so in coin rolls from the banks. 20 cents are probably the second most elusive ones here. Have only got it twice from change at the shops.

Welcome to the forum Rollycoins. :)
Thanks Steve!

Thanks for the info. Ten Changeover dollars is quite a lot compared to other parts of the country, so maybe most of them ended up there. One of my rellies went to the bank recently to get some coins to noodle, but ended up with bags and bags of the Standard 2016 dollar. Although I was certainly impressed by this feat, I was not impressed by the discovery that even more Standard 2016 dollars are being released into circulation, at a time when the 2016 ANZAC dollar is scarce and the Changeover dollar is extremely scarce in circulation. :dash1:
I've got quite lucky in the last month or so. I get 3 to 4 of them for every say $400 worth of $1 rolls I go through. I've been trying to get some fresh change, but it seems like the banks I deal with only dispense rolls and the staff seldom see fresh change coming through at all. I did notice in the last batch of rolls though that in every roll, there would be at least 2 consecutive fresh and sparkly standard 2016 $1 coins. It was a bit weird because the entire lot of rolls all had this pattern. Perhaps armaguard was mixing in fresh change with the recycled ones they got. I've also been seeing quite a few 2016 ANZAC dollars coming my way the last month. Maybe they all got released here in SA haha.
I often find brand new coins in rolls, regardless of which denomination I choose, but whenever I do the one dollars, 6/7 of the 2016 ones are the Standard design, while the other 1/7 are the ANZAC design. The Changeover ones simply aren't circulating in Brisbane at the moment. :(
I found my third changeover $1 this week here in Adelaide from small change.
