Hi all this is my first post, can somebody please tell me when I go to the Perth Mint shop site, I have difficulty in finding the 1 ounce silver bullion coins for sale on their site, say 2017 bullion coins, they are for sale on Ebay and they are available in America as seen on you tube, am I missing something or is the Dealer and American market more important than the local collectors?
Regards cosmo

The major USA Dealers get special rates particulary on large orders of slow sellers(read dumping).

I have a question on buying bullion? Why do people get the bullion coins when you can get the cheaper bullion bars? If it's bullion silver that you are interested?

The reason I collect the rounds bullion is that I like the high quality of the Perth mint bullion coins.
Your reply is not on the topic of my post.
Now I know why I haven't bothered with forums in the past please
over and out
This? http://www.perthmintbullion.com/au/Buy-Silver-Coins/1oz.aspx?size=18
They have lots of design choices.
I have a safe deposit box and I bought some bullion (bar) in the past through them. Prices are just as good as direct from Perth Mint. Just wonder if coins are better. No need to get your panties in a knot.
Cosmo, no one's judging you for your choice in collectable/investment. It's probably something you are a little sensitive about, as you have to constantly question yourself and your investment strategy ... and that is a good thing.
It's a fair question to ask, as you generally pay a premium for numismatic value ... however there's nothing wrong with having a keepsake which has a bit of Intrinsic value above bullion.
I've got some absolutely sh_thouse investments, but it's something I wanted to collect. (Hell, I've even got three Borobi coins for the 2018 Commonwealth games. (Though, I'm betting against the Queen making it through to the end of the year ... so I want a 2018 coin with her head on it).
At the end of the day, it was a genuine question which was asked, and you answered it. And there's nothing wrong with liking a high quality coin.
I wasn't questioning his choice. I was questioning mine.
Cosmo,
To answer your SPECIFIC question.
On the Perthmint website, click on the tab labelled Bullion, then the tab labelled Buy Silver.
Click on 1oz. silver coins.
That will take you to a list of silver bullion coins available, such as the kangaroo, koala, etc.
Of course, you can't actually purchase the coins if it is outside normal trading hours for the mint!
You will also need to register in order to qualify for purchasing, as required by the currency dealing laws.
As mentioned by others, Perthmintbullion is also an excellent alternative to purchasing directly from the Perth mint.
Enjoy your bullion coins.
Regards

To be quite honest with you Most Australian collectors are not interested in paying the exorbitant premiums for the Perth Mint bullion rounds and I imagine that the sales people at the Perth Mint are well aware of this, That's why they are putting much more effort into the far more gullible US market
Welcome to the Australian coin forum where we tell it as it is and BTW you don't get to make one solitary post and then berate the members here regarding their responses to that post :ok:
Just a simple misunderstanding. I was really questioning my choice of a bar rather than a coin. Whether or not I should have gone for a coin.
The bars are butt ugly. :)
Perth Mint makes nice coins no doubt however they are overpriced and worth less than purchase price on secondary market if you decide to sell
Thank you all for your replies, and advice, actually my collecting interest is Australian Sovereigns, I have collected some Perth Mint bullion 1 ounce rounds along the way and I like the quality of the coins and was interested in how much the Perth Mint charges for these coins.
So Perth Mint bullion coins are not a good investment ? as they are too expensive. I look at youtube silver stackers in America they consistently advise they like the Perth Mint bullion rounds and pay a few dollars over spot for some of the coins, I just wanted to know how much the Perth Mint charge. Have now checked the Perth Mint site and confirmed the price. Sorry to here that I may have offended a member

Good to see you have returned Cosmo.
Welcome to the forum.
I live 15 minutes from the Perth mint and would not
waste the petrol driving there for their overpriced coins.
Sure, some of them may become collectible and command
a premium when sold, but I think you would lose money on
most of them. That's my opinion anyway.
Many collectors Do pick up the odd coin or two from the Perth Mint and RAM that are in reality simply overpriced Baubles that will in most cases loose their value over time, Even I am guilty of doing this.
However I do this with my eyes wide open and I would Never try to promote these "Grannybait" offerings to other collectors as good investments because that would be an outright Lie.
IF you do want to add some of these "Coin" types to your collection I would advise against it But if you are determined to do it wait until a few years after they have been issued and you should be able to pick them up at pretty much "Melt" values on the secondary market.
Thanks once again members, for your experience and advice I will take your advice on board

Ah... if you are referring to me it's all cool. Not offended. :good:
I collect Australian sovereigns too. :D I have a few half sovs but mostly sovereigns. Wished I picked something less expensive to get addicted to!
Hi yes I was referring to you, I did not mean to offend
I like the Australian Sovereigns, I tend to like the better condition ones, I don't have many half sovs as they tend to be more expensive, I also would like to collect some Australian Proclamation coins, maybe I should look at some bullion Sovs?

It's hard to get high grades though. Impossible for some dates in mint state even if you have the big bucks. I like to get the key dates but that limits my ability to source the very top grades.
I have one Canadian and one British sovereign.
I'd like a Johanna. Spectacular coin.
You guys like Sovereigns do you?
I just recorded a little clip.
Touchy touchy touchy. I hope you don't treasure them too much. Muahahahaha!!!!

Oh, and just because you were talking about Bullion, thought I might throw up something my mum received many years ago when she worked for Dulux.
Back in the day (Late 80's), the company gave every employee one of these one year.

Not a bad token of appreciation.
Yes, it certainly isnt a proof or high standard of finish ... however it does mean you get to rub it in your hands without feeling guilty.
Yep! Loved them seedyrom.
That can't possible be good for the coins though.
Yeah .. I wouldnt normally even treat a copper-nickel coin like that, let alone gold.
But I was recently given that little holder by my aunt.
It was hers and my fathers when they were kids. He had the sovereign, she had the half sovereign.
They used to play with the coins as kids.
I figured they have probably been handled a lot more savagely than I could ever inflict.
My father was saying he felt those coin holders were fairly common.
I've certainly never seen a coin holder with a more abrasive surface to be sitting against the coin face
The coin Holder is a very interesting item but a bit harsh on the Sovs
The silver bar is also interesting

This is one expensive paper weight!
Australian Koala 2018 2 Kilo Silver High Relief Antiqued Coin. (http://www.perthmint.com.au/catalogue/australian-koala-2018-2-kilo-silver-antiqued-high-relief-coin.aspx)
