I am pretty sure that these Pre Orders are "Shunned" by RAM and their policy is to cancel orders from Non authorised RAM resellers that practice this.
Maybe a word into RAM's ear will help to prevent this practice :ok:

Anzac coins and coloured $2 coins are very popular with collectors, so putting the two of them together is very profitable for the mint. As long as the demand is there, they'll keep making them. :ok:
Well it is 100 years since 1914-1918. So one a year is OK. I like them.

It is a "C" mintmark coin and unless there is a No mintmark coin I doubt that this will be a circulation issue.
The previous ones went into circulations right? There were mint rolls. I imagine these are the same no? They sold c mintmark coins in presentation packaging as well last year.
Looks nice. Although I have to say it's a rather loose symbolic representation of the actual dome in AWM.

Straight from the mint's website:
As Australia pauses to remember those who have served, this coin celebrates one of Australia's most solemn sites of reflection. Featuring Napier Waller's breathtaking mosaic from inside the dome of the Australian War Memorial's Hall of Memory, this coin is ideal for collectors, history buffs, military enthusiasts, and families of service people. Complete with a 'C' for Canberra mintmark,
this is a special collector version of this year's Lest we forget coloured circulating coin.

Anyone seen this book? How big and how many pages is it? Worth getting? I get one because of postage if it's good.
According to Ten Eyewitness News (https://tenplay.com.au/news/national/april-2017/national-mint-releases-special-anzac-two-dollar-coins), they'll be releasing 4 million of these coloured $2 coins into circulation, so I'm glad they've learnt from previous releases and are trying to meet demand. :)
Since they've been releasing these coloured coins (2012 on?), I can count on one hand how many I've found. (except for the Olympic ones)
I don't shop much with cash, but I wonder how many of these actually make it to the shopkeepers tills ?
The secondary market on these really disappoints me, because the coins are released to remember the sacrifice of the soldiers over 100 years ago, but people just hoard them to make profit.

Have a question... the ones with the C mint mark is different to those without? The small area where the mint mark goes is different to the ones from baggies. One is blank and the other has the circular dash lines????
The official RAM C mm folder is only 40k limited however they cost $15 each
Really nice looking coins I like this coloured $2

All memorial spaces have a certain vibration that is special
I have two young great uncles who died for this nation listed on those walls
so this particular place is even more special to me as a family member who had the opportunities of freedom to continue into this century
sadly the coin collecting gotta have it bizzo seems to have demoted the Anzac heritage it into a first in first served to make money
which is just sort of what it probably wasn't really intended to be about
just a pity that even the dealers have the rolls at twice face value and we are talking about circulating coinage as well

When I lived in Canberra, I had a big long list of places I wanted to go and visit, but never found the time. Then, one day, I had to leave unexpectedly, and I'm still kicking myself for not visiting them before I left. Now, I'm living almost 1000km away and have absolutely no hope of going back there any time soon. :dash1:
WOW. How bizarre. S'pose that's a familiar thing for anyone really.
Every year my family go on our family "holiday" to Canberra. This is a one night stay at a hotel in the Capital, a visit to the mint, and other attractions. There seems to be always something new to see in Canberra ... and the best thing is it is cheap/free.
I love the place, though it is a limited exposure :)

the first couple years when we moved here - we went to most places and kids were younger
we are getting a bit slack now and only seem to go to the bigger events
although it is not uncommon for us to have a picnic lunch/dinner on the lawns near the National Library or the National Gallery
a couple of times a week we walk/bikeride/yoga down by the Lake
we also go to the Mint fairly regularly for coffee - the ladies at the mint shop recognise us now!
recently we went to a guest recital at the Carillon and and that was fabulous
so I guess all in all we do make the most of enjoying living here
you gotta find the time / some time
no matter where you live
although when i lived in Sydney when I was younger I think i went to the Opera house ... once
been there more since I left the place and have lived interstate/s!
Canberra deserves more than a day seedyrom. I was there over 10 years ago for almost a week. Tonnes of interesting stuff to see. Apart from National Library, RAM and National Gallery, there is Questacon, Parliament House, both old and new, the High Court. Unfortunately the War Memorial on under some renovation when I was there and WW1 section was closed. And also Cockington Green!! :D
National Gallery has some really blockbuster shows on from time to time. Never been to the Floriade though.
I heard they are proposing a high speed rail (again) between Sydney and Canberra that will cut travel time to less than 3 hours. If that's the case I will go at least once a year.
I went to Cockington Green in the late 80's and was simply amazed.
Saw Queen Elizabeth walking into the Old Parliament House in the early 70's. I would have only been 10 foot from her at the time, on my Dad's shoulders standing on the stairs.
The War Memorial is excellent, saw it in the late 70's.
Went on a tour of the Mint when I was in primary school, I still recall looking down on all the machinery and shiney copper coins.
When I last went to Sydney for my eye op, on the way home I was sitting at Central Station waiting for my train and struck up a conversation with a bloke and his family. He was the main man responsible for setting up the watering systems for Floriade. Nice bloke.

That is rather rude. My credit card was debited on 24th April and now they are not delivering until (at least) early June. So they will have my money for six weeks for something not actually yet available. I wonder how much they are sitting on for all outstanding orders?

Thank you!
Great question! They are not for sale. I use my eBay account to buy coin supplies and that's it. Basically if they come in the next 1-2 months, I will be a happy collector
If you are not selling them what on earth are you going to do with 375 or $750 worth of these coins?
I'm guessing he's not selling them ... yet.
It does make me wonder though, would these coins have most value in 6-12 months when they aren't available to purchase "new", or would they be worth more in 10 years time when they certainly aren't available (but with less relevance once the ANZAC centenary has long passed).
Serdyrom, I didn't think of that once it has pass, I am just hoping they double in value in the next year as will be keeping them in the mint bags. Also, in Facebook groups their are people selling 5pk for $40 and people are actually buying them
Crumbs! I thought that I was being a hoarder, but all I bought was 3 bags of the $1, 6 bags of the $2, and 1 mint roll of the $2. This is much more than I did in previous years, but it seems that some people are never satisfied. Either that, or he's trying to corner the market.
I ordered some of these ($2 and $1 ANZAC) on 22/04/17 and got them 01/05/17 so no problems!

So by doing 475 div 25 = let say he has 19 rolls and by selling them at $6 each = $2850. Of course dealers don't pay retail price but they do have to try and sell generic sets at retail to make the relationship with RAM worthwhile. Remember they have competition with selling generic product with every other outlet like Australia Post, Facebook and eBay
Got an email from RAM that my order of 3x $2 and $1 baggies were posted. Order date 22/04/2017.
Does anyone know if they can buy more then 3 packs of $2 at once? (I am guessing the answer is yes?)
No. They have to be separate orders. However, you can buy 3 packs of $1 and 3 packs of $2 at once, because they're two different products.
That's if you're talking about the bags. The number of mintmarked/carded ones you can buy in one order is unlimited, except for the overall mintage (40,000).

I was able to secure four of these Lest We Forget coloured $2 coins yesterday from a Woolworths teller and then the wife secured 10 more straight out of sealed bag today from another woollies store.
My quota is now full.

That's the go ... face value costs nothing extra congrats :wavemulticolor:
Well done Goldseeker! None have showed up here yet and I'm still (im)patiently waiting for my baggies from the mint to be posted
The mint has finally sent all my orders. Now, I just have to wait for them to arrive. :D
Well, I now claim the dearest bag of these, by far!
After a head's up from Jen, I rushed out to get some, and on the way, some turd deliberately rammed my car while I was stationary at the lights, because I'd had the temerity to get in front of him.
Cost of bag: $50
Cost of repairs: $850

$900 total

You'd be surprised by just how popular she is up here. A lot of people vote for her just because they're sick of everyone else. If the current mob of politicians got their act together and actually did something to improve our living standards, she'd no longer be a threat to them. The Coalition won a whole swag of marginal seats in the 2013 election, but they've barely done anything to reward those who voted for them. Queenslanders know when they're being ripped off, and they vote accordingly. :winkextra:
I can't believe how gullible voters are and think people like her and trump aren't politicians but hello they are and the worst sort, they can't get any more done if they had the power than anyone else..we just have a broken system all round :( I have a few ideas how it could be made better but too many to post here, and not in this thread :winkextra:
Mine arrived. :)

i started to fear the thread was going to become a political "hot potato" so to speak ... no fish and chip shop puns intended ................
Sorry RG, I wanna be good :blush2:
sure sure
cheeky boy
I see cotton rolls on Ebay for $109.00 inc postage, will force down the price from other sellers.
Also note that the "C" mint mark carded coin has not increased in value, still pick them up for $15.00 plus postage.
I know they are still available from the Mint for $15.00 but this often has no bearing on the price from Ebay.

Let just wait and see what happens when the mint are sold out of them.
If you are only buying the $15 ones, it's cheaper buying them off eBay than the mint as they charge $10 for shipping.

Interest was referring to rolls not the RAM bags

I wonder where Cotton is getting his coins from to make up these rolls.
If he is buying multiples of 3 bags at a time plus $10 postage it will cost him $400 to make 12 rolls at $109 each = $708 profit from only 12 rolls.
Either RAM is supplying him knowingly or they are too stupid to realise that he is rorting the 3 bag limitations that is supposedly designed to stop this sort of thing occurring.

I suspect he has multiple ids with friends and family supplying him
Or C and Co are just going to Woolies, the bank, post office etc and getting what they need over the counter.
There are many opportunities to obtain multiple bags of these coins at the moment.

I seriously doubt that that is the case.
i went over to a couple of facebook pages last night - haven't done that for ages
found quite a few sellers flogging off whole security bags of the 25 coins per bag retail bags
most selling for about $75 per bag but the whole bag however many that is 10 or 20 or more
i think they were asking well over a thousand for them
so they are out in circulation
i'd believe that C &co are somehow being supplied through the RAM
Trout have you asked at Woolies, local supermarkets, banks, PO?
I traded 20 bags of ANZACs for 20 (old coin) bags at a local post office.
Also traded one bag at local Woolies and another bag at another PO.
Your "seriously doubt..." is unfounded and incorrect!

Mine arrived from RAM yesterday along with the $1 coin baggies.
Typically bagged up though :(
Received one in change today (Adelaide)
Mine arrived yesterday, all pretty heavily scuffed and dented, as well. Bit disappointing to say the least. FV you get what you pay for I suppose. Put them away, probably never to be seen for awhile again. :)
The ones in the rolls look really nice. It's only the bagged ones that look scuffed and dented.

Why the 'Unfounded"?
Have you already forgotten the coloured Olympic $2 rolls episode?
To get the rolls of these new $2 coins that early in the piece it makes perfect sense that the coins were sourced via RAM and not on the off chance of getting lucky at a Bank :ok:

I know cotton sources bags from facebook groups
Oh well
Maybe not as sophisticated a set up.as id thought then
I know for a fact cotton have bought the full mint bags from facebook members

What sort of bags are we talking about here?
The $50 commercial bags or the $10 Mint "Baggies" that RAM is limiting to 3 per order?

The $500 bags containing the smaller bags
Whichever bags they came from, I don't think they can compete with the quality of the mint rolls. The mint's taken great care to protect the ones in the rolls from nicks and scratches, but that's not the case with the ones in the bags.
