Was speaking with Vic and Annette Power of VP Coins, Mt Gravatt today. They mentioned they are planning to sell the business, and put the feet up. From what they said, a buyer hasn't been secured as yet. Good luck to them, and hope they enjoy their time in the sun :yahoo:
I used to shop there regularly, so good luck to them.

Good on them great people :wavemulticolor:
now that looks like a forum investment opportunity
perhaps we could have shares!!
Might be just the ticket for you RG. Being a person of leisure and an ex Brissy girl, you could fly up once a week to oversee the business and see rellies at the same time :yahoo: ;)
I wonder what impact their retirement will have on The Brisbane Coin Fair, as they were the organisers.
Yes, good point. I think Annette in particular is highly involved with all Money Expos nation wide.
Yes the old shops will. Dissappear and it will end up face book and internet as the mainstay fir coins
Mores the pity

Not any more, she gave it up last year.
Their business is now for sale if anyone wants to take the reigns of their coin shop.
Eric
Do you know if it includes the shop as well
The shop is leased.
Thank you
Decades ago a great uncle owned most of that land there
Alas it's not in the family anymore!!!
Wasn't the Scurr family by any chance? When we moved from the area in 2012, I was on the lookout for a Hills hoist type cloths line for our new house, and actually found a ridgy didge heavily galvanised one covered in dust in a back store room at Scurrs hardware for $500. Ridiculous when you think the light weight powder coated rubbish from China will cost a similar amount.
Sadly, their business in the next block down from VP Coins has now closed. After beating off the challenge from Bunnings they finally succumbed when Masters purchased the old Franklins complex across the road at Mt Gravatt Central. After kicking out the existing tenants, which is where VP Coins originally were before moving around the corner, the Masters project didn't go ahead.
A lot of inconvenience and heart ache for some families no doubt, and all in the name of big business :diablo:
Those original gal posts on the hills hoists are brilliant. I've still got a 4 foot length of one that I've used for 1001 uses so far. (Even as a leverage bar!!!)
