Yes I see that on FB earlier and it's bloody rough that channel 10 just stole all of Mark and PP's work the bastards :@
Good article.
Be better if they didn't rip it off LC :dash1:
Or at least give credit where credit is due
I really hate this sort of thing and it's why I got kicked off one of the FB coin pages because one of the owner stole a coin pic off ebay and didn't give any credit so I abused him so surprise surprise I got kicked off :dash1:
I sure hope that didn't make it into the 5 o'clock news. It's already difficult enough as it is to find those coins without other people searching for them. :@
The more the merrier I recon :good:
It's the lack of time that bothers me. Noodling a wavy is probably going to take me another 10-20 years, so I don't want people removing them until I've found one. Otherwise, I might have to spend an extra 10-20 years looking for one that hasn't been taken, assuming that coins are still around then. Anyway, that article is blatant plagiarism, so I can understand why Ausjack is so angry. I won't even post a picture of my own $1/10c mule on the internet for precisely that reason.
Whenever I see something like this, I check where the images have been stolen from.

Nice of them to ask permission first or even attribute the images properly. So nice of them. :@

I doubt that you would have said NO if they had of bothered to ask nicely instead of simply stealing your images, I wonder how happy they would be if some of their images were stolen by a competing network :close_tema:
I have to add that even though the way the images were stolen really "SUCKS" Big time That articles like these that get good coverage are a great asset to the collecting community because if this article only encourages a single new collector to the hobby then that is a Good thing.
As New collectors are vital to the hobby as most of us old farts will eventually fade away and New Blood is needed to replace us and also to keep the hobby alive and thriving.

Mark and Kathryn you have to get onto TEN network and get these pricks to apologise for the plagiarism :dodgy:

Yes, but there's a right way and a wrong way.
Its the difference between research and plagiarism.

They already do. Channel 9 ran an ad several years ago, showing how Channel 7 had stolen their footage without their permission, by zooming in and blurring out the "See it first on 9" watermark. I wouldn't be surprised if Channel 9 did the same, although I cannot confirm it at this stage.

That's an interesting way of putting it. I agree that it's important to get new collectors into the hobby to replace the old ones, but at the same time, I really don't like the added competition. Perhaps I need to let go of that competitive streak and just be grateful for what I've got. After all, I probably would have spent that $1/10c mule I found in my change if I hadn't read about it on the internet two months earlier. :)

That is a perfect example of why these sort of articles are so important :good:
We have to bring those new members into the hobby or who is going to buy your collections
when you are ready to sell. Your collection of coins would just become loose change. :(

Model railroading has been around for at least a century. No fear of it becoming extinct either.
Except...
The latest figures that arrived from the peak body, the NMRA, shows membership has declined from 27,000 to 17,000.
Endangered may not be equivalent to extinct, but its still cause for concern.
Point taken
But
How many members here are financial members in on clubs
Membership is an indicator but may not be the sum of collectors Australia wide
