Thanks for all your replies. Keeping it up is going to be quite a challenge, due to the amount of work involved, and the continually diminishing returns. When I started noodling in February last year, I had at least 10 gaps in my collection. Now, I've filled them all, bar the Wavy 20c and the Incuse 50c.

I found another Coronation coin on Friday, which means that I've noodled at least three of each circulating $2 coin, including the Olympic/Paralympic ones. Upon further investigation, I realised that I now have at least three copies of each circulating coin, except the 1985 10c (bar varieties and errors, and bar some of the 2016 releases). As such, I really can't see myself noodling for that much longer. Noodling requires lots of motivation, and I'm rapidly running out of it. The more I look at it, the more I realise that it has been a victim of its own success.

Yes very interesting. Helps to see which ones are the hard to find ones and obviously keepers if you come across them and which ones are not worth bothering about. Top work mate.

Cheers Mike

Surprised you have not had any 2016 5 cent coins. I get them all the time in Sydney.

I think there are a very small number floating around, but they haven't yet made it into the rolls. I prefer to noodle rolls over bags, because it helps to ensure that I get a random sample. My entire family has only found two 2016 5c coins so far - a plain one in Brisbane and a Changeover one in Melbourne.

I've seen 10 plain and 2 changeover so far but I've been regularly looking at $10 to $12 worth of 5c pieces a week.

How many of the Changeover 20c have you found? They seem to be very common down south, but almost nonexistent up here.

Two, but I don't look at as many 20c pieces as I do 5c pieces.

Thanks, Mr T. If you saw the other thread, you'd have seen that I just found my first 2016 5c, plus 7 others (all plain). I've just finished checking my batch of dollars, and there aren't any Changeover coins in there, either. Do you think it's possible that all the Changeover coins could be low mintage? :(

I think the changeover 50c is common but all the other ones seem to be much less common than their commemorative counter-parts. I've only seen two or three each of the 5c, 10c and 20c and five or six of the $2. Still no $1 but countless 50c pieces.

The problem is that most of the Changeover coins aren't distributed evenly around the country. The 20c is extremely common in Melbourne and Adelaide, but extremely scarce in Brisbane. Conversely, the 10c and $2 are equally scarce in all three cities. Thus, the 10c is more common than the 20c in Brisbane, but scarcer than the 20c in Melbourne and Adelaide. This makes it very difficult to determine their overall scarcity. :@
