Title: When times were simpler!
Post by: Robster on December 27, 2016, 08:16:09 AM
I have travelled past this old shopfront a thousand times throughout my life and only yesterday did I stop and capture an image for posterity.

I recall the shop being open in the 1960's but I cannot remember any activity for at least the last 30 years. I often wonder if there are hidden treasures or perhaps dead bodies behind those imposing doors?

A Google search lists it as a going concern so the story may yet continue!

Shop has an air conditioner, so must have been open in the last 20 or so years ? May be all the remaining 1930 pennies are in side this shop

I am hoping that is the case, on inspection there are opening times on the door!

Perhaps it's a secret Triad front dealing in pseudoephemera.

Whatever lurks within, that is a good photo.

Air conditioners were around at least 50 years ago. Lets hope that the 1930 pennies are in 2x2s with the price put on them back in the 1960s or 1970s ($200-500 each)

In the suburb of Kilkenny in Adelaide, about 200 metres from where my Grandfather resided.    Kilkenny is about 8 stations from the city on the Port Adelaide line!

Mark says he was last in that shop around 2005-2006. It was run by an older gent and was rarely open.

It's still in the yellow pages.
