Title: Sydney Mint Half Sovereign in Marsh?
Post by: kchan1111 on December 14, 2016, 10:57:27 PM
Just curious... How come Michael Marsh's book on Half Sovereigns did not mention the Sydney Mint dates? Anyone knows?

Thanks.

Mine too - the 2004 edition. The text suggests they were in previous editions too.

Hmmm I have the first edition dated 1982. It has the Australian sovereigns starting with the shield young heads.

I have to hunt down another copy now. :(

The Sydney Mint designs are considered native Australian coins, while the rest are considered English coins minted "in the colonies".

Marsh did cover the Sydney mint design coins in the sovereign book. I was wondering why my copy of his half sovereign book did not mention them. It appears that my edition is the 1st edition but not the 2nd edition which do have coverage.
