Heads up Wynyard Coins has reopened after relocating to Barrack Street. Friday 16/12 is their grand opening and they have a couple of specials for the day:
- Buy a 2017 proof set (RRP $100) and get a 2017 mint set (RRP $25) free (1 per customer)
- 27th Ed Renniks for $29.50 (RRP $37.50)
Free mint set sounds like a good deal. They have coin designer Steven Stojanovic from RAM in store from 10am - 2pm and last but not least Mr Minty as well.

Gee,nothing lasts forever but they have been in that Arcade since i was at School in the 1960's,i remember back then they had the front glass smashed and Coins taken on at least a couple of occasions.

Yeah the whole arcade tunnel is getting some much needed refurbishment and all the little shops have been slowly clearing out over the past few months. There is a very popular Vietnamese Pho noodle place next door. Sad to see them go.
The new premise is looking good though. A lot more display space. Because it is above ground it now has excellent mobile reception!
Still close enough to Wynyard so they don't have to rename. If they get a good deal when the refurbishment is all done they might move back I am told.
Strand Coins has also moved to Paddington too. One less coin shop in the CBD for lunch time visiting.

Actually depends on the quality...
$17 for the 1932 florin would be $200 today. You can get a crappy VG10 for that.
Also another eg. where Dealers at that time had the 1920 dot under at 50c compared to the 1920 DOLS at 30c.Although Macca's seems to list them equally the Sydney minted 1920 always seemed to be the rarer coin,i've seen articles over the years where sorters have struggled to get a quarter+ DOLS when compared to Dot unders in large lots and that's not taking into account the filled Die type which was very common as well.
Just came back. Mr Minty gave me a high five. He was a real trooper standing outside full of energy despite the rain.
Also got a 2017 rooster 50c and had it autographed by Mr Stojanovic the coins designer. Had a couple of quick chats and l a few things about how they achieved the different levels of frosting. Found out depending on the frosting (yes there are different types) the production cost can vary.
