Title: Legends coin pack Ballot
Post by: trout on November 22, 2016, 08:01:18 PM
There are 1200 of these available via Ballot.
Ballots have to be in by 14/12/16.
$15 for the set and $10 postage.
Packkyboxitis isn't really my "Thing" But I am putting a ballot in, Only one set per Legend Member :ok:

What exactly are the benefits of being a legend other than vouchers as mentioned here https://www.ramint.gov.au/legends?

There is Nothing incredibly "Special" about any on the coins themselves .
The "C" Mintmark $1 is from the Gallery Press and all the other coins are circulation issues.
The only thing unique here is the packaging, Hence the "Packkyboxitis" reference in my initial post :ok:

These are only available by ballot. Limited to 1200
I don't think that the Post Office will be getting any.
Unless it is like the Queens 90th Birthday order. Time will tell.

If the RAM does release these through Post Offices then I shall end my coin collecting and sell the bloody lot off.

I have heard, how true it is I can't confirm, that the RAM were selling the $0.50c pieces with the "M" Counterstamp that were left over from the World Stamp Expo held at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre some time ago, at a Canberra Stamp Fair held recently.   These are the $0.50c pices that one had to purchase in a PNC at a cost of $30.00.   A total of 7,500 PNC's were up for sale limited to 1,250 per day of the show.   Any PNC's not sold on the day were destroyed.   So there should only be 7,500 of these coins about or less.

I think that RAM is under the impression that we collectors have short memories and sneak in things at a later date thinking we won't notice.
I don't think that they would be stupid enough to mess with the mintage of these Legends sets But anything else seems to be fair game :(

There will of course be the usual eBay suspects that will have Rorted the system with the Legends sets and have multiple listing for these pretty much as soon as they are available despite a limit of one set per member :dodgy:

RAM have offered these to Legends Members only exclusive ballot nothing to do with Australia Post.
During Canberra Stamp Show 2016 Australia Post randomly gave out M Counterstruck 50c in change to customers during the 3 day event which had nothing to do with RAM

I do find it odd that RAM can produce this limited edition set for $15 and yet charge $25 for the mass produced year set.
They would still be making money on the $15 set otherwise they wouldn't have produced it, The extra $10 for the year set is pretty greedy I think :dodgy:

I did expect to see these on eBay But not as a Pre Sale item.
Lets hope that RAM is as good as their word and that these pre sale parasites get their orders cancelled :ok:

When I was a member of the RAM forum there were a couple of people working pretty hard to get something special made  for Legend only members.
The idea originally was for a coin and I did tell them that there are many people that would treat it as simply another eBay opportunity and rort the system.
It looks like Dion and the rest of the crew that run that site have made the effort and done the work to produce these sets in response to the popularity of the idea of something "Special" for Legend members and should be applauded for this.
I just Hate it when people jump on a generous and thoughtful gesture simply to make a quick Buck :(

I don't think so as you have to give RAM you CC details for each and every order.
I can't imagine RAM charging EVERY SYC member for one of these sets unless they put a ballot form/order in.
But I do imagine that all the SYC members would get a pre selection when their ballots were entered.

I've sent a complaint to the RAM about this type of packaging. I didn't want them to think it was suitable for continued use, it's a terrible idea. Whoever thought of it is not a collector. At least I've said my bit now.

Just to add, the pack says the dollar is circulating. Hmmmm. it's not.

The packaging has not date on it whatsoever. They will use the packaging for future coin releases.

Also when we received the invitation for the ballot it said the $1 coin was the one only available from the RAM Gallery which is the "C" counterstamp coin. The $1 coin in the set sent to me is a "C" Mintmark. Which is available in the 4 coin sets. They got that wrong too.

The $1 are coming from these sets that are unlimited mintage:

https://eshop.ramint.gov.au/2016-Mintmark-and-Privy-Mark-Set/310887.aspx

All the other coins in the set are 2016 circulating coins

We will never know what the actual mintage is for these Legends sets as they are not numbered.

My set arrived today.
I can't say I am impressed with it, The coins are in pretty "Ordinary" condition MS63-64 ish and there is absolutely NO mention of this being a special edition or being for Legends on the packaging.
The coins are NOT sealed into the packaging, They are just slotted into the back leaving half the coin exposed.
It looks like I have been "Sucked In" again with this garbage

Hmmmm, If this is a limited edition and the ballot is finished then Just where are RAM finding these replacement sets
I'm assuming they will place the missing coin in the folder then send it back I don't think they have replacement sets as such

I see one of these has been reduced from $999.00 down to $100.00
now that's some kind of reduction.
Normally if there was something with such a small mintage (in this case just the packaging) it could go as high as $999.00
It's just my opinion but I think it's the packaging that keeps the price,
down.

Quote from: 'Goldseeker' pid='101776' dateline='1479864151'If the RAM does release these through Post Offices then I shall end my coin collecting and sell the bloody lot off.

Australia Post stand at the Canberra Stamp Show in 2016 were giving the M 50c in change to customers apparently which is concerning :dodgy:
