Are there any Show Products and what is the Show website?

It's the first coin show in Adelaide in quite a few years. ANDA don't seem to do Adelaide any more and our local coin club the NSSA (Numismatic Society of South Australia) just wanted to do something to boost numismatics here in SA and join in all the fun that the other states get to do. Richard Welling who is the president of the NSSA and also runs Ye Olde Coin Co jumped in and organised it and managed to get a number of "the usual" interstate dealers to come along. Tables were open to anyone and the fee was reasonable. It's also free entry for show-goers. Here's hoping it will be a fun show, I know some interstate coin friends will be flying in to attend and of course I'll be there :)
There is a raffle and an auction that at this stage I don't know much about that will be a drawcard -I will look into that. I don't believe there is any show products.
This event page (https://www.sanumismatics.org.au/numismatic-events/?event_id1=11) will be updated with details.
Here is was thinking that the shows are thin on the ground in Perth, At least we get an ANDA show.
I would have thought that Adelaide would fare a lot better than Perth Show wise.

That settles it - I really do need a carer
We're busy getting ready for the show. Because we don't usually go to shows, none of our stock is priced so guess what I've been doing with teeny price stickers?!! We've also had some cool signs made so you can't miss us! I'll be going to the NSSA meeting tomorrow night so hopefully I'll get an update about some of the details of the show. Oh and we'll also be bringing along our 4 kids and guide dog pup Charlie. It's a great venue the Torrens Parade Ground, plenty of space right in the city and parking and grassy runs for the kids dog.
Those tiny stickers are probably a pain in the Bum to put on But I personally am more inclined to buy a coin that has a price on it opposed to a coin displayed without a price on it.
Tickets booked. See you there Purple Penny and pra666.

Yes, it should be a good show. There's a bit of buzz going on about it, certainly the biggest coin event here since the ANDA show several years ago.
I hope the show is a Great success and is the first of many.
I would Love to attend But it is just too far away for me :cray:
Are you going to post a blog with piccies after the show?
We stopped in at the venue a short while ago to check in on the set up. It looks amazing, big open bright space with tables all round the sides. Forgot to take a picture but it's just bare tables right now. Mark and I (as The Purple Penny) are located as you walk in the door around to the right next to the refreshments. It's getting exciting -our wares are all priced and packed. We're also excited to see some of our interstate friends flying in for the weekend. We'll be sure to take some piccies tomorrow.
my coin dealer is driving over with his son
he thought the weather will be hot ?
regardless - have fun kids!!
I am sure that the lead up will have been worth it!!
Yes it's shorts and t-shirt weather :)
What, no bikini's and flip flops?
Quote from: 'Goldseeker' pid='102202' dateline='1480662263'What, no bikini's and flip flops?
Nah , I recon Mark would draw the line if he had to wear a Bikini :)
If it happens I want pictures! :P
What ? Mark drawing a line while wearing a bikini
yep - that would have to be kodorific!!
Dropped in yesterday for a quick look had a family BBQ to go to , lots and lots of lovely coins . Purple Penny stand looked fab some very nice error coins there , was great to meet our forum founders . Wasn't after any coins but did pick up some storage goodies , hope the rest of the weekend went well .
Can confirm no bikini's were spotted but it was certainly warm enough for them .
Show was well attended and the hall looked awesome with all the dealers present. We did OK, but the best part (as always) was getting to talk to real live people as opposed to doing everything online. Thanks to any members who popped in and said hello.
sounds like a good time was had by all
pity about the missing 'kini!!
ha ha
gosh it's been years since I have seen forum members
might be getting time for me to visit folk!!
It was a great show. I spent more there than I did at the ANDA show in Sydney last month! And there were dealers there that I don't get to see as often as I'd like, such as the Purple Penny, Johnny Watson and Qi, Jerry, and Richard Welling.
Eric
Here are some pics Mark took at the show from our table. We had a good time apart from having an unfavourable position. We put a lot of effort into looking professional (ha ha) had signs made, wore our Purple Penny shirts and people did approach us for advice and to sell some stuff. Usually the more favourable positions get the best buying opportunities. The nicest item we saw was a 2c reverse brockage that someone brought in, sadly we didn't buy that. One dealer had a "misstruck off centre double date" 1962 sixpence he wanted $1800 for which was a lovely double struck coin but ouch the price. Charlie and the 4 kids came to the show and were all very well behaved. Overall it was a success even though we only sold one slabbed coin, it seems RAM decimal is the way to go with a lot of people putting together sets and seeking the coloured $2 coins.

the venue looks huge and airy
the puppies ... what can I say .. they are all just too cute
good on you for being a blind doggies' mummie
Glad to hear that it went off alright and on the correct date (for me)
That's a great looking venue, the room looks pretty "Quiet" though.
Were the images taken before the public were let in ?
I would have most probably pinched one of those puppy's, They really are cute :)

That was rainy Sunday afternoon so yes. Saturday was much busier and the weather was better on Saturday too, a sunny Adelaide day.
rain is good if it cools things down!
Quoterain is good if it cools things down!
Problem is it doesn't necessarily do that. Rain is usually accompanied by an increase in ambient temperature at the point water vapour condenses into liquid water.

roads tend to look as if they are misting with short bursts of rain in the heat
over here in the ACT i will say that the rain does seem to cool things down more so than when i lived in Nth QLD

i mustn't rub shoulders with enough celebs - don't see anyone - not even mark and Pp :(
In that case the heat from the roads is evaporating the water and that cools the road.
Similar with buildings -a hot roof will give up heat to evaporate some of the rainwater. Of course, if the rain is coming from a cold layer of the atmosphere the condensation heat gain will not be a big factor and the raindrops will still be colder than ground level temperature. That would usually be true in ACT but not so much in tropical areas.
I have experienced (and measured) rise in air temperature when it starts to rain but it not large.
Also a "mind over matter" factor too I think. If you see water falling from the sky you expect to feel colder and the brain cranks up the placebo factor for you.
thank you professor Jeff

I don't see us in the photos. The bottom 2 photos you can't see us we are way way down on the far right next to the snacks.
The 3rd last photo Mick Vort-Ronald is sitting by our table on the left, it's taken from the other end of the venue.
I don't see him but Gerry McGinley has a young off-sider Hugh, he must be all of 12 I guess. He has such a keen interest in coins, he milled about our table like a damn blowfly and we loved it. it's nice for a young tacker to have such a keen interest so I was teaching him about some of the decimal varieties.
Some new photos just in thanks to Robster. I didn't take any photos but Robster has some nice "action" shots!

Great pics PPH (and of course the Robster)!
The expression on Mark's face in the second one looks to say ..... "You want what for the '62 sixpence!!" :laugh2:
Think it's more like pie and sauce or hamburger with the lot, Uni :)

Perhaps that was Sunday after a visit on Saturday from a gent who had a "perfect" Canberra florin that was toned, rubbed and worn. Sunday he brought it back after a touch-up with Brasso to see if we wanted to buy it this time. He was happy with his Brasso effort. Perhaps the look on our face was not so happy.
Are you sure it was Brasso? I have been told that valve grinding paste is best :swoon: and it comes in a few different grades! :taunt:
