Title: Remembrance $2 2016
Post by: Enlilninlil on October 20, 2016, 05:27:58 PM
Hello loves, in the currency determinations was a $2 disguised as a $1, any news of its issue yet?

Bludger.

I think it's still under an embargo until we get closer to Remembrance Day.

Oh goody, more 25 cent coins for the newspaper.

But it is number 2 https://www.legislation.gov.au/Details/F2016L01109 coin number 17, the weight and size is a $2 first line as a $1.

We're being Americanised by stealth. Expect Quarters to circulate, probably starting with a new monarch.

I doubt they'd gain much traction here. Even Blind Freddie can see that replacing the 20c coin with a 25c coin would add an extra layer of complexity to our lives, but where would it end? Would we also have to replace the $2 coin with a $2.50 coin?

Okay, the gold and silver coins are obviously not intended for actual circulation. I would also include the 25 Cent coins.
But which of the other coins will or could be commemorative circulation coins? Items 3-6, 9-14, 15, 16, 24, 29 perhaps?
Geez, the Australian Currency Determinations are a very tough read.

I just remembered that 25c coins do actually circulate here, because I noodled a Canadian one several months ago. I also found a US dime last month, so maybe we are being Americanized by stealth! :D
