It has taken me quite some time and effort to finally get these coins recognised and attributed as Specimen strikes.
NGC has come up with the goods so here they are.
I apologise beforehand about the image quality These particular coins are incredibly hard to image due to the super reflective surfaces ,So bear with me :ok:

and great pics too
The Pic's could be better But they are the best I can do at the moment.
I have to balance between getting some glare on the plastic and seeing the detail on the coins.
These are absolute Buggers to image.
Anyway here are the 2007 coins.
I won't be able to take any more images until my other submission comes back from NGC.
Feel free to add your own Wedding set images here :ok:

WOW Trout these are beautiful.
Lovely. Just does show what the RAM can do when they really try.
Wow!! They're real eye poppers. :drooling:
Great outcome for all your hard work. :good:
Now I have to resist the urge to start collecting them.

:agreed:
This years "In come the Dollars/Cents" Set Coins are of a similar quality/type But have granulated fields are another example that the artisans at RAM are World Class. :good:
Drooooool........WOW!
I had a couple of these Wedding set coins "Spare" and recently I sent a coin to few different Members here that had never seen one "In Hand".
I wish I was a fly on the wall when they removed the coin from the bubble pack to see their reaction when they first set eyes on one of these coins :)
It was another Member here "AJ" that first introduced me to these coins and without his "Heads Up' I would still be blissfully unaware that Decimal coins of this quality existed :good:
If anyone here hasn't seen these coins "In Hand" then I strongly suggest that the next time you are in a coin shop that you ask to have a look at one of these Wedding Sets if they have one available, Most dealers have at least one of these sets or maybe some individual coins from them :ok:
These are a set of the 2016 "In come the Dollars in come the cents" set that I had graded by NGC.
They have the same perfect strike that the Wedding set coins have but the fields have a different finish because standard unpolished blanks were used to produce these coins.
The fields on these coins have a slightly "granular" look to them But the coins have a Proof Like appearance as noted by NGC with the MSXXDPL attribution, The "DPL" is a Deep Proof Like designation :ok:
These coins are Not the same as the Wedding set coins But they do have similarities :)

Very nice set, I don't collect decimal coins since 2013 but this is the kind of issue that would have taken pride of place in my collection.

I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of these coins when I opened my first set.
There was nothing to suggest that these coins were minted differently when they were listed on the RAM site But some of our members here asked about them at the Mint and were told that they were struck more than once on the Proof Presses :good:
I like to think of them as the 2016 wedding set :)
Very nice coins Jim.
You have PR70 5c, 10c and 20c, just need 50c, $1 and $2 now for a perfect set. :)
Quote from: 'Triggersmob' pid='99760' dateline='1476102871'Very nice coins Jim.

Getting a 70 for a 50c or a $2 coin is extremely "Tough" for some reason.
I can understand the 50c coin being "Tough" with its large size and the smooth non reeded edges that are hard to find without any detracting marks at all, I have NO idea why the $2 coin is a such big call to get a 70 for it though.
I should have my results back from NGS soon and I am confident that there will be some SP70 coins amongst this submission :)
The grading scale is not linear is it? So the one point between 69 and 70 is much harder to achieve than the one point between 68 and 69.

Determining the grade of a coin that sits in the 68-70 range takes a minute inspection of the coin because at first glance it is pretty difficult to tell the difference between a SP68 and a SP70 coin.
Many Dealers in Australia consider a coin that is MS/PR/SP67 to be FDC.
I can understand this thinking because from 67 upwards the differences are quite minimal But I am of the opinion that if it isn't a 70 it isn't FDC because anything under a 70 does have some sort of blemish regardless of how minute it is :ok:
However having said that , To find a decimal coin that isn't from a Wedding set that will grade 67 or better is quite a challenge and from 68 up is very difficult indeed in most cases.
New images soon :)

I have sent 5 more sets to NGC, To see if I can improve on the 2002, 2003, 2005, 2008 and the 2009 coins that I have in this series :ok:
I should have those results early December.
Beautiful coins for sure. :)

Yes I now only have one coin a 2007 5c that isn't SP69 or better.
Hopefully I will be able to rectify that in the next couple of months :)
The complete set of these coins consists of 48 coins in total.
So far I have managed to get 17x SP70, 30x SP69 and one coin at SP68 in the set that I will hopefully be upgrading.
These results are indicative of the incredibly high quality of these coins.
To assemble a set of circulating designs for the years 2002-2009 at this high level without using the Wedding Sets would be an impossibility.
A 2002 outback-windmill in a PCGS MS69 slab sold for $65 on Facebook last night. The slab did not specify ex wedding set but the coin looked like it. There are currently 22 x MS69 in the pop report.

Regardless of what is written on the slab a Wedding set coin is not that hard to distinguish from a run of the mill coin.
Mr Cotton recently submitted hundreds of Wedding sets to PCGS.
At least PCGS did note "Wedding Set" on his slabs But still attributed them incorrectly at MS instead of SP.
It wasn't too long ago that a 2002 Windmill 50c would have sold for a lot more than $65
Trout how do you send them - in the capsules or what?
I must get hold of all of this with regards to sending coins to be graded
Lastly when did the wedding sets first appear? I think I have a few to get
No more dumb questions now from me - well not for awhile anyway
I take the coins out of the capsules and send them away in saflips.
The sets were first issued in 2002 and the last Specimen set was issued in 2009, From then on the sets were produced in the frosted Proofs.
So there are 8 sets of the Specimen coins and they are from 2002-2009 inclusive.
48 coins in all :ok:
These sets are still available from about $80- $180 which is pretty reasonable considering the quality of the coins and the relatively low mintages.
The 2007 sets for some reason are pretty "Tough" to find, The rest of them can still be found with a bit of patience .
Thanks mate. Again you come to the rescue
Now I know where I'm at with the wedding sets - still have to get a 2007 set (if anyone can help)
Have some saflips here will send some away and see what happens
Quote from: 'gabby' pid='102686' dateline='1481612769'Have some saflips here will send some away and see what happens
I don't think its quite as simple as that appears at first glance. For example, I send my coins to an agent and he sends them to PCGS on my behalf. I looked into it and decided it was not worth the effort to send them to PCGS myself. That was my decision but guys like trout probably have a higher turnover than me which makes it viable for them.
The Free submissions that you get with PCGS when you open an account or pay your yearly "Dues" more than covers the cost if you use them to submit your pre decimals or gold coins, The same thing happens with NGC.
The "Tough" part is knowing what to submit and pre grading your coins so that you can maximise your chances of getting the grades you expect and that the coins don't get a "Details" grade.
Eric Eigner and some other dealers that offer their services to send the coins in to be graded on your behalf will pre screen the coins for you and advise you about any "Problem" coins they spot.
This will save you money, time and disappointment if you are not fully confident with your grading skills, You have to remember that a TPG will be far more critical of your coins than you are yourself.
The little trick that I use when grading my own coins is to look at them as if I was about to buy the coin, This way you tend to look for the faults on the coin as opposed to looking at just how nice it is.

That is the way I was thinking of doing it. I am not that confident about trying to pre grade them myself
I only have a rough idea about grades - been studying the discipline for three years so nowhere near expert status. The guy I send my coins to sends me a report with his anticipated results which has a variable success rate with no discernible bias one way or the other i.e. sometimes he gets it right, sometimes he over-grades and sometimes he under-grades. The main thing is he takes care of nearly all the hassles.
QuoteThe main thing is he takes care of nearly all the hassles.
As dealing with a TPG and trying to resolve any problems or to get any information is just as bad as dealing with a government agency like telecom or centerlink , This part of the service provided by a dealer is invaluable. :good:

Have already received information re the Eigners' as well
Bear in mind that PCGS haven't attributed and graded a Wedding set coin correctly Yet and after stuffing it up already hundreds of times I highly doubt that they will attribute these as SP now.:dash1:
If you use PCGS you will end up with your coins in an MS slab instead of a SP one.:cray:
