Title: is purple penny site hacked?
Post by: serial on August 15, 2016, 12:06:19 PM
I am trying to access the site from my mobile and I keep getting redirected to some other site that I am not allowing to fully load in case it is malicious.
You might want to check your site out guys[undefined=undefined]

There is an "owner" of a Facebok group who continually copies and pastes large chunks of The Australian Coin Collecting Blog without attribution which I regard as a hacking.

Seems to be working fine on multiple devices here using Wifi and mobile data.  Can you post up some screenshots or something?

I just call that stealing. Readers say "wow, cool, that's great, I'll keep that for later" and the posters make out they wrote it. Stealing stealing stealing.

Maybe you could get Mark to embed a virus into parts of your site that activate upon unauthorised usage :diablo::good:

I don't take extracts but I will occasionally put a link up to a page like your error page as I find that very useful so I hope that's ok and not stealing  and I think sites being down is more to do with servers as I look at PP and drake a few times a day and sometimes they won't be accessible for a bit and the same with the forum but they come back in a few hours but if it's like a day I will email either Mark or Eric and tell them and it's usually not long after they're back.

AJ i have no issue i like to see people reading the blog content, perhaps putting up a short extract and a link to the rest when discussing this or that here or there.
Its mainly the facebook groups that copy and paste a mass of text without a source link and claim it as their own. I just call that plain rude.

I would call it plagiarism and a breach of copyright  :ok:

That's exactly what it is!

From time to time I'll snip a line or three from a site to make a point, but if its more than that, a link and maybe a short blurb are the way to go. And never, ever, ever claim someone else's work as your own.

Plus, if you're going to use a given reference extensively, give them a shout-out now and then.

Oh, wait, these are FailBook groups we're talking about.. when the scammers are in charge, and actively discourage any education of their victims. Bah! :dodgy:

Cool, thanks PP :friends: The last time I put it up was on the pommy coin page I'm on on facebook and a few really appreciated the link :good: I find it easier just to put a link up as there's way to much there when talking about errors as they asked what sorts are there and I'm too lazy to mention all of them as there's so many :winkextra:
