Things are getting chaotic here in the old money bin. Just imagine how hard it is to find anything here in the album storage wing! :dodgy:
There's gotta be a better way...

Lucky they closed that one down
At times when I cant find something I feel like I am searching through something like that :dash1:
What an amazing looking building, where is that by the way ?
my son would love that
it almost looks like a university archive of thesis's (? correct word?) as there isn't a lot of variation of the thickness and height of the books
and it sort of almost doesn't look real
the man's outfit is very 1950's though
found it for you Trout
In 1874 the Public library of Cincinnati moved into the small building originally meant to be an opera house, Sadly by the 1950's the library outgrew the building and it was knocked down

Thanks RG.
I imagine that the librarians there would have been pretty Fit working them shelves.
I also imagine that the combined works in that library would fit on the hard drive of an average home computer now
here is another photo
is was incredible
pity they pulled the building down!

Correct. On both counts.
They tore down the Cincinnati library in 1955 cos it could no longer handle the volume of either books or patrons, and replaced it with a new one down the street. The site is now an office block/carpark and the only surviving bits are the three busts that overlooked the entrance.
And yeah, 300,000 books WOULD fit on a single drive nowadays. Call it 1k/page and 100 pages/book, that's ~30Gb. You'd get 100 times that on one of my 3Tb drives, and I have, at last count, 22Tb now, not counting offline storage. :)
Mind you, I'd rather have THIS 'library': :)

Those belong to my fearless highly trained attack dog "Kelly"
I just call her "Doggie"

Doggie looks very content there snuggled up in bed and looks like she could go on a diet but she's very cute :give_heart: I bet she looks like a little dalmatian when she's wet like some of the bullies we've had did :)

:laugh2: ..... You'll keep. The best I could come back with were some titles of the songs on the Unit album from Regurgitator, but we'll leave it at that.
