Sorting out some of my 50c today and thought this might make a good thread.
I can't really recall seeing a 50c before. (But with a short term memory like Dory at the moment ......)
I think the mark on the obverse may have been done at the RAM to get it off the die?

Imagine finding that many coins.
Very nice!

:laugh2: .... Yes, damn 12 sided things, you have to take a pic of each side! The round ones only have 1 side. :winkextra:
Good find! (imagine finding that many photos).
Interesting find Uni :) So you finally got down to the shed and bashed it into the socket like you said you would :mocking:
You're on a roll Uni! :ok:
Pedro
That's a good find. I haven't seen a partial collar on a 50¢ before.
I always check the edges of coins when noodling -perhaps one day I will get one.
Nice!
Not sure if these are partial collars, I think they are a bit more "ram strikey" because of misaligned reverse dies. They have a similar look to Uni's find though.

Very nice Mark! The side on pics are quite similar but with each section having it's own collar impact.
I'm going to list mine tonight and despite it being the first one I've seen I might start it at $25 ..... (I spent most of yesterday afternoon doing the pics above, must have taken hundreds and changed my mind a million times on how and what to present, hopeless).
This was an action shot from yesterday afternoon ....... the result of bumble fingers coming to grips with the camera! :laugh2:

Good example of 'ghosting'

Looks like I may have found one in this morning's noodling session. Nice and straight and even all the way around too. The coin is 0.26mm larger across on the reverse edge compared to the obverse edge.

That looks nice Jeff! :good: Geez you're having a good run, keep it up!
Looks like someone, no names JEFF might have hit it with a bloody big hammer :mocking:
Good find mate :good:
So do you still want me to make you some more just like you asked ;)

Moderation please. We don't want to flood the market and devalue our "finds".
P.S. How are the mules coming along? :mocking:
:laugh2: getting there slowly, still working on the dies :winkextra:
Just about done on the wavy as well :)

I'm not sure where I put it, but I think I've got some of your handiwork. :laugh2:
Good stuff, hold onto it as it might be worth a fortune one day :laugh2:
Something tells me it's worth only 20c. :dash1:
Yeah that's now but when I become famous you never know, but don't hold ya breath on that one :winkextra:
Is that a clothes peg I can see being used as a coin holder? :ok:
Yes, just for the photos.
I couldn't find a 50¢ size rigid capsule so I have it in a PNC type capsule now. The edge of that is highly reflective, making it hard to see the edge of the coin. I might try cutting some 'windows' around the edge so most of the edge of the coin is exposed to view. Perhaps something similar might also work with a saflip.

If you would like to extend that offer slightly, I wouldn't mind a set to use as samples when I'm talking to manufacturers.

Which ones do you need Mate?
I'm sure Jeff won't mind missing out on a few

Just one of each. That way when I'm discussing storage, I can show them what already exists.
