The Changeover Tour is in Adelaide today. We hopped on a bus with the famed guide dog Charlie and travelled into the city for it and the ANZAC Day commemorations.

It's interesting that they're still exchanging the 2015 Coloured $2 coins. :yahoo:
When they were in Melbourne there was a limit of 1 bag per person for the red $2 coin bags.
For the changeover coins we used a suitcase with wheels so I didn't have to carry all the weight of the coins. Came in handy as we walked the streets of Melbourne.
Yes they had the 1 bag limit today for the red one's. No limit on the others though, I spent all my cash.
Yeah you need cash for the changeover bags. Kim found out that when she was in Canberra for the open day in February and only had her credit card.
She had to find an ATM to get cash to swap over the coins.
A lot of people don't carry cash and only use their cards.
The Changeover tour is off to Queensland.

Thanks - so the main draw is this year's commemoratives? Have they had the plain stuff at any previous ones?
I am wondering when the tour is going to rock up at Moonyoonooka :laugh2:

I'm sure they would do well. :yahoo:
It's very interesting they don't have a stall in Brisbane itself, or am I missing something?
The Brisbane Coin Show later this month would have been a logical time for the RAM to pop up so to speak, but it's great to see them doing the regional areas.
I wonder if they are going to make it to WA as Geraldton is one of the Major regional towns in this State and maybe it will get a "Guernsey"

I have a feeling I know you ;)
One thing I wonder about. Do you good people always wait for an official event to visit, or there could be some sort of "social gathering" somewhere in the park, to just chat about stuff, brag the 'recent catch' and possibly exchange things?
well kitty
we are in WA, SA, Vic, NSW , ACT, QLD and maybe there are a couple of NT & Tassie ring ins somewhere here in the membership
so really, the park where all come to play, chat, brag and post photos of our coins is right here
the exchanges is probably called the postman
then actual catch up between folks as they organise it, say if visiting home towns etc

Do you live in or near Geraldton ?

I only go into town when I have to as I live a few ks out of town and anyway I am only aware of one other collector in the area as I have sold him the odd coin or two over the last couple of years.
Otherwise I may as well live on the Moon as far as getting together with other collectors for a yarn here Mate :dash1:
It looks like WA will get a visit but unsure if it is going to go regional, I may have to entice them to Gerro with a feed of fresh crayfish :diablo::)
Most Capital cities have at least one coin club, maybe even 2, and they have regular meetings.
Our member Sapyx might be able to chime in here and tell you about the Brissie one. I used to go, but haven't been for quite some time now.
Other members probably know about their 'local' meetings, where and when they're on.
yeah most people meet at the clubs or shows
Hi this is my first time posting on here so please be kind.
I have been lurking for a while.
So I am wondering what you can actually swap for at the change over tour.
It is going to Toowoomba this Sunday and my son lives there. I have asked him to go along for me but I need to be able to tell him exactly what I want as he isn't a coin collector and wouldn't know what to get or where to start.
I see on the website you can stamp the $1 coin. Do you swap $10 in circulated coins for a bag of unc coins. Is it that simple???
I read here that you have to take cash so if I can work out what I want I will know how much cash he will have to take.
Hope my question isn't too stupid.
Thanks Tania
Good to see you posting tania. :yahoo:
I think the $1 coins are $15 a pop and the baggies of coins are $10 each, There are 2 lots of baggies so far the 50c and the 5,10 and 20c ones.
The $2 and $1 baggies come out later on this year :ok:
If I am wrong about these prices I have NO doubt that someone will correct my mistakes
PPH covers it all here on her blog:

I love the pic on that blog where all the coinies are lined up at the RAM tent and all the Sailors look like they are lining up at the lost Fathers tent waiting for it to open :)
Thanks for that
Tania
I just found out that RAM will be visiting Geraldton on 11/7/16 with the changeover tour :yahoo:
I forgot to add the link

I already have all the changeover coins except for the counterstamped $1 so I will probably grab a couple.
I will probably get more enjoyment from taking little Grandmiscreants to the event, So I had better take plenty of cash because they will want at least one of everything on offer :)
Did anyone notice how popular the press was for the counterstamps? In Adelaide there was NO activity for the press, it was all just money swapsies.

I think that RAM has just about killed the interest in the dollar coins with the overload of issues over the last couple of years PP
