Can anybody shine some light on this coin.
-It seems all the carded issues coins are 2011.
-It seems the PNC was released in 2010.
Was the coin only minted with 2011 on the obverse?
If so,... weird, confusing and makes no cents (sense) lol .. get it?... tough crowd.
You are very observant OCC. I have the coin and the PNC and never noticed the date difference.
I went to the inauguration of the Natiuonal Service Memorial years ago and it was a very moving ceremony.
The day before we had an official reception in the Great Hall of Parliament House. That was the night that Julia Gillard was pronounced Prime Minister after the general election and the negotiations going on between the Labor Party and Minority Parties.
Julia was announced to the crowd some time after the official start and she was greeted with polite applause.
When the Tony Abbott was announced to the crowd, the crowd went ape.
It was a political statement that one had to be there to hear and see.
However, back on track. As I have said, well spotted.
Further, the coin in the plastic credit card packet was not made available at the Parliament House reception for National Servicemen nor was it available to purchase on the day of the inauguration.
I think the RAM mucked up on that in that it missed a good opportunity to sell something to national servicemen.
Thanks Goldseeker. Im very observant if you care to look at page two here https://www.ramint.gov.au/sites/default/files/mintissue04/mintissue04/mintissue81.pdf Spelling mistakes everywhere....?...
So what you are saying is that you have a service coin dated 2010 and a service coin dated 2011?
If not? I have seen 2011 dated coins, just not 2010.
And if you look in catalogues the PNC is dated as 2010? The carded coin is dated 2011?
I just want to know if it was a 2010 release PNC is with a 2011 dated coin or if in fact there are 2010 dated service coins?
BTW. thanks for the political story. I didn't mind reading it. Cheers
The Bathurst PNC was a similar situation, OCC - it was a 2012 issue but with a 2013 50c.

Oldcoinchest good observation and good reading your story Goldseeker
I can confirm 2011 dates on both releases
The PNC was postmarked as first day of issue on 8 September 2010 at Canberra ACT 2600 with a 60c stamp which was a stand alone AP issue that depicts the fountain at right hand side of Australian War Memorial main entrance.
This fountain was dedicated by GG Quentin Bryce on 8th Sept 2010
The carded coin was issued in the November 2020 Mint Issue catalogue #86

OCC-The link you have above shows the Mint Issue. In fact the top picture on page 2 is me. I was the first to mint the Master Mint Mark coin.
I have again checked my coin, PNC and Credit Card issue of this coin and they are all dated 2011.
PS: After ceremonies of the dedication of the Nashos Memorial, I forwarded a couple of PNC's to the Governor General for her to autograph and they were returned with her autograph PLUS a GG Letter Head confirmation.
A nice something different to have in ones collection.

Thanks Goldseeker. Yeah I knew it was you. As if I could find a spelling mistake.
And yeah that pretty awesome to have signed PNC's in your collection.
