Title: 2010 Incorrect COA
Post by: Goldseeker on March 05, 2016, 03:33:59 PM
I was cataloguing my coins today when I spotted a possible error by the RAM.

I refer to the ANDA Release 100 Years of Australian Coinage shown below:

The coin clearly shows a master Mint Mark as shown below:

However, the COA as issued by the RAM states " "P" Privy Mark as shown below:

I have just looked at the other coins of this issue and the same as above is on the "B" issue.   COA states "B" Privy Mark whereas the coin is a Master Mint Mark.

Seems like someone has mucked up somewheres.
Even Greg Macdonalds Catalogue has no mention of this issue.   I think the RAM has fouled up and Gregs catalogue needs to be updated accordingly.

By way of confirmation, I looked at my coins. They are the same for the B, M, S and P. The C is a regular mint mark.

r9453-The above refers to the $1 Silver Proof issues at the ANDA Shows.   I am not talking about the Alum-Br if any.

Unless I have misinterpreted your comment above.

Hi Goldseeker,

I meant the silver proofs - my B, M, S and P have the same master mint mark that you describe. The C is a regular mint mark.

Edit: I still have the packaging somewhere in my shed.

There are 2 "C" mint mark coins in this issue .
A standard "C" mint mark and the "C" Master mint mark, All the other mintmarks have the "Roo" in the design like the master mintmark coin :ok:

Thanks for pointing that out, another one that I had missed.

Edit: Oops, I just found it, turns out it was misplaced - that was lucky. I actually purchased it from trout a few years ago.

Great photos all round.

But are your COA for the coins state the same as mine?

Yes they do, I believe that the "Roo" incorporated in the privy mark is there because these coins were exclusively produced for the ANDA shows in 2010.
The ANDA logo is a Kangaroo in flight and that's why it is incorporated in the design, they just got the roo going in the opposite direction though :ok:

Interestingly PCGS do not recognise the difference between the "C" mintmark and the master mint mark coins and give then the same PCGS number of 502725.
Which is a bit frustrating as I have both coins graded but can only add 1 of them to my set registry :dash1:

Holy catfish I never knew such a set existed but I'm a little surprised you only have 11% - is that because the missing ones are Perth and/or non-standard size? I notice some entries on the list don't even have a PCGS coin number. Talk about rafferty's rules.

Yes Most of the coins in the set are bullion type or Perth mint grannybait.
Only a small percentage are actually 25mm coins.

Great effort and achievement there, trout. :)
