Cast counterfeit florin.
Unusual as it appears to be solid silver.
But less than sterling.
Very convincing in the hand.
Reminded me of Gnome's recent excellent post about counterfeit florins.
Could this be the work of Manders during the mid 1930s ?
Could be a Chinese recent replica
That's a pearler, if you ever consider selling it, I would be more than happy to give it a good home along side my other counterfeits. :)
Just on another note, some of Manders earlist attempts weren't always a success. Could it possibly be struck and not cast and maybe still have been good enough to circulate. Some of those details still look to good to be cast. Have you got a weight on it, by chance.
Anyway appreciate seeing this one. :)
have a look on ebay at this one and let me know what you think ,

Appears to be a regular 33 florin.
I'd say the last 3 has had a hit.

I'm no expert but I'm sure its cast - there is bubbling in the fields.
Marks and general dirt etc suggest its contemporary rather than recent.
Cant supply weight unfortunately.
Fairly deep gouge below the date (and corresponding mark obverse) is unusual - possibly some sort of test mark ?
I thought that 1931 wasn't a year they made
but the Chinese almost pure silver counterfeits were out and about for 1931
This is an ebay buy that I'm not too sure about. It has rough orange peel like surfaces on the obverse, but it's the poor definition around the inside edges of the date numerals that drew my attention. They appear viscous, a bit like how water tension will curve up the inside wall of a glass. But could just be to do with the crappy 1926 florin issue.
Any opinions appreciated. TIA
